Tipping/Bribes When Going Out Just read this older article... Pocketful of Dough - Tips on Tipping: 2000s Archive : gourmet.com I know it's not based in Vancouver, but is the similar effects of tipping culture here as well? |
money talks man. it especially ALWAYS works in big metropolitan type cities. |
Dam I gotta try this at the macdonald downtown, shits always a line up! Posted via RS Mobile |
I won't mind doing it LOL, except Vancouver will never have a restaurant with a 2700 people waiting list. |
I guess I don't go out often enough, or high class enough to ever need to tip to get a table. RS meet, 40 people, we tip Antons to take over restaurant? |
I always associate tipping with bribery, except tipping gets done after the deed is supposedly done. |

I think Revscene can make a slightly more upscale choice than Anton's. |
i haven't tried this to this extent, but i've slipped a 20 at joey's during the playoffs last year to get a table. "we're fully booked, sorry." *slips 20* "let me see what i can do." 5 mins later i was being sat. |
I would do this if i was on vacation or something. But i would never do this in Vancouver. Vancouver restuarants have alot of competition and good food out there. If ones that busy, its off to the other. Tipping the Maitre D is no different than greasing ur way into a club which ive been guilty of doing multiple times. |
Doesn't really happen in Vancouver. We have too many good restaurants for our population. Book a couple days ahead and you can get a reservation nearly anywhere. The only places that are trouble are the ones that don't take reservations. Going to try this the next time I go to New York or Chicago. |

Time to shake the dust off my suit.... Where is that thing anyways.... |
I did it at the Palazzo in Vegas and got an awesome upgrade in rooms. |

Trying to rent a boat on the august long weekend = bribing the guy at the front desk lol A little cash goes a long way. That said, like many others have mentioned, there's not very many restaurants in vancouver that have huge lineups |
