rb26dett engine

so i picked up a 92 240sx the other day an was doing some research an what not for motors. so im curious as to ware i could pick up a rb26 for the car or a sr20det red head. is there any good shops or imports down there to get one?

hasnihon.com - I've dealt with them, brought in a few cars with them and they are trustworthy. You'd probably save money dealing with them vs a local importer, but then it would take longer than buying something already here obviously.

you can get a front clip from them there, would be fairly easy to import compared to doing a whole car.

try jazzproparts.com always wanted to buy a block from them. they sell all kinds, WITH WARRANTY ... PLUS i remember reading a review that modifiedmag bought a jdm block from them and they were happy as hell with it.

drift motion sells motor mounts to put a 1jz-gte in a 240 if you want to be one of a kind,
and I have an extra 1jz motor in garage....

i have couple RB20, RB26, RB27 and CA18 sitting around+ shit load of RB parts if you need them.

ProBoostin 11-21-2012 11:35 PM

RB26 will be a tough swap because of the twin turbo setup and not a lot room to work with in the engine bay of the 240. going to need a rb25 transmission and aftermarket driveshaft and mounting brackets. Go on 240sx forums to get some good advice and build thread.

Also you'll need a large sum of cash probably 10g's plus

I'd go with the sr20 or if you want more power the rb25

falcon 11-24-2012 09:31 PM

not to mention the rb26 is a bitch to make any real power with (reliably)

Not really. Most people blow RB or SR motors because they do not upgrade the turbo to a bigger one and they run high psi on them. Spend the money and get a bigger turbo. Beats blowing up an engine.

I would recommend using an RB25DET over the RB26. You can get great power out of the RB25 and wont kill your wallet too hard.

if you got the pockets for a rb26 then I think more people would recommend a ls swap.
