notice and order has no address....
 

okay so I had this genius of a cop yesterday who told me he is giving me a ticket for tint and no front plate. then he said he is giving me a notice and order which I need to take an inspection facility but he clearly circled box 3. then he went on to tell me if I don't do it I will end up not being able to renew my insurance. (wtf?) from past experience and what it clearly says on the back its a 598 ticket and get towed off of the road if I don't comply.....

anyways he forgot to write an address as well under the box 3. is there any way I can get out of taking my car to the police station? also where do I file complaints? He clearly did not know what the hell he was talking about and I have a problem with that....

No, you don't have to take it to an inspection facility.

Yes, you do have to correct the defects.

No, you can't get out of taking it to the cop shop... but you CAN take it to any nearest detachment and have any member check it out.

I got a box 3 once for a cracked windshield on a work trip to Kelowna. I got it fixed after I got home, then had it checked and the N&O cancelled at the detachment here in Pitt Meadows.

Don't even bother with a complaint. Chances are he DOES know what he's talking about and may have simply had his mind on something else at the moment... perhaps the last guy that DID get a box 1 or 2. You being bitter is not valid grounds for a complaint against the cop. Peel off your tint, mount your plate, and be done with it.

There does not need to be an address listed. It's a box 3 so you have 30 days (max) to have your ghetto tint removed and to add your front plate - then bring it to any police station in BC to have it signed off on. If there's an outstanding inspection or N&O on the vehicle then it's true that you would not be able to renew insurance or sell the vehicle.

^ in addition, depending on which order it is and if its after 30 days, ICBC will not let you process certain transactions with it. There will a code which will be attached to the registration of the vehicle and it blocks some transactions.
