Dell Voice

Dell Voice

So its VOiP and works like skype and all the others.. Now they have free unlimited text between Dell Voice users. The best part is that they have Unlimited SMS to non dell voice users for $1.99 within Canada or $2.99 within North America.

Sounds pretty good... So what Im thinking is, since my usage right now is barely make 50mins/month outgoing calls, I mostly SMS.. going on a cheap Pay Your Way with Wind Mobile and use Dell Voice. Use Wind network for emergency calls (free unlimited incoming calls/SMS anyways).

Pay Your Way doesnt include outgoing SMS or calls, So using Dell Voice to make any calls/SMS. I know Wind's network is bad for VOiP.. But Im usually either at work or at home and theres WiFi.. so I figure this wouls save me huge money every month.. haha Slap $20-$30 for pay your way (should last me at least 2-3 months) and $1.99 for unlimited SMS to anyone in Canada..

anyone using Dell Voice comment on their quality or if this is a bad idea??

Right now I have the Oh Canada plan with Wind, which is $29 for unlimited call/sms within Canada and unlimited Data... I could potentially be saving half or more..

I'm on Mobilicity’s BTS plan but I've started using Dell Voice on wifi while I'm up at SFU because I get almost zero cellular reception.

Using Dell Voice in your situation would be okay, but just know you'll need Wi-Fi on almost all the time which can drain your batteries rather quickly (I carry a spare battery with me at all times)

WiFi uses less battery than 3G HSDPA.

Well, your plan will only be sufficient if you have access to WiFi 24/7, otherwise Dell Voice will not be worthwhile as your main source for unlimited calls and SMS.

Which is why im thinking about having a "Pay As you Go" type for backup incase theres not wifi around, i can still use reg cell network..

I work 16hrs/day and have access to wifi at work.. then at home theres wifi.. so I figure it might be worth while to try.. So far No one i talked with over Dell Voice notices and difference then using cell network...

I used Dell Voice maybe like 3/4 months ago on a Galaxy Nexus and it was very unreliable. It would take a long time to connect and the call quality over wifi wasn't that great and would disconnect sometimes. With data you will need AT LEAST 2 bars to get calls through. That's just my experience with it but maybe there was an update that fixed all of that since I've used it.

How has it been for you so far?
