Blackberry Serenades Developers

"This video is a thank you to all developers supporting the BlackBerry platform. Your Developer Relations, Alliance and Developer Tools teams appreciate your enthusiasm and loyalty! We're Going To Keep On Loving You. Shown at BlackBerry Jam Americas Sept 2012."

RIP Blackberry. Their last ditch attempt to keep their BBX dreams alive. Shit, if BBX was released last fall, it will would be as dead as a doornail.

I love when people hate on Blackberry, that just help me rub it in their face once BB10 dominates.

!MiKrofT 09-25-2012 12:59 PM

Dominates? There will be laughing but not in the way you hope :)

Can't be helped that RIM was once run by retards whom have now been all replaced.

If Blackberry does die, they aren't going to just let 80 million people out of service.

They will be bought out if that comes to it.

I can easily say that any platform from RIM other than the upcoming BB10 is shit without a doubt.

With RIM, they actually care about their developers and intend to motivate anyone who want to make applications and games for BB10.

With so many languages that it is supporting , its no wonder it is so easy to port over applications within 48 hours.

Just because the media is making BlackBerry out to be a dead company , what do they know?

I'll tell you what I know. Off the top of my head, Sony, LG, HP and HTC, all need their own mobile OS to compete with Samsung and Apple, and none of them have publicly nor rumored to acquire Blackberry. SONY's line of Android phones are doing terrible, and is considering fully of moving to WP8 or a new Mobile OS. LG and HTC does not have their own mobile OS to compete with Samsung (Samsung has Bada). HP abandoned WebOS, and is looking to re-establish its position in the mobile market again, so is seeking for another Mobile OS. However, and I will reiterate this again..

NONE OF THEM HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST AT the $6 per share Blackberry.

To put it in perspective, the day Motorola was bought out by Google, they were standing at $12 per share, and was sold for $36 per share (approximately) to Moto shareholders. Motorola was nearly as bad of a shape Blackberry was, the only upperhand they had was a better class of patents.

What strong assets does Blackberry have? A declining 70 million global user base?

You wanna talk about Enterprise? Many corporations have abandoned Blackberry for Android and iOS over the years.

Hardware? Aside from their keyboard, their devices are junk.

Software? BB6 and BB7 was a joke. BB10 remains to be seen.

Patents? Motorola has a better set of patents, that's why Google chose Moto instead of BB.

Apple (Macbook, iPhone, iPod, iTunes, Apple TV) and Android (Smartphones, Tablet, Google Map, and a bunch of other Google software) have had 3-4 years to develop its eco-system, and to be ever so intertwine. Even WP8 currently has a better position to succeed as a #3. Does Blackberry think they can be #4? IMO, I don't think they can. Without a strong eco-system, and that takes years to develop, Blackberry is as good as gone.

In the current Blackberry financial state, they won't have 3-4 years to develop a eco-system, their company in current state can only last for another 2 years tops, unless they get acquired, merged, or an injection of foreign funds.

Don't get me wrong, I am not hoping that Blackberry will fail, in fact, I am hoping for the opposite. However, you need to take your colored shades off and be a bit more realistic and analyze the facts.

i want my 15 minutes back...

I was a die hard bb user but now I made the switch I will never come back.

nothing is amazing and even the guy demoing it seems to struggle with the simple controls.

the downside and what will make bb fail is the apps, no one develops for them and no incentive to as well...

LMAO..thats your comeback???

sarger604 09-26-2012 02:16 PM

sigh some people think they know but they have no idea.

I attended the jam conference downtown Vancouver. They are having these all over the world. Not only were the multiple conference rooms jam packed with developers; all attendees received VIP treatment.... as well as a free bb10 Alpha device that can be exchanged for a limited edition production ready bb10 device when they release it q1 2013.

The alpha device is a bare bones bb10 device with the intent of devs developing apps on this free alpha device they have and later seeing them in production on their free public release devices. Not to mention the other incentives they are now giving for devs to create apps.

so you buddy fail for talking out of ur ass.

Whether rimm can come back after the release of bb10 remains to be seen but they are definitely making strides to make it happen. However it really does look like a make or break for this company

I think RIMs comeback is determined based on more than just app support, although that is a huge department they lack.

One thing I hated about blackberries was their build quality. Creaky battery covers, loose bezels, wonky touchpads, inconsistencies in general are things they also need to fix before I would even think about jumping back.

In what aspect of my post constitutes "talking out of ur ass"?

Well, I hope that they are dishing out all the effort that they can muster as this is their final opportunity. They either make it or break it.

LiquidTurbo 09-26-2012 04:20 PM

It's not the media that is making bb dead and dying. It's made out to be dead and dying because it is.
