Father shoots (and kills) son in attempted burglary

Father shoots son in attempted burglary - CBS 5 - KPHO

Quote:

State Police are investigating a fatal shooting in New Fairfield where a teen was unknowingly shot by his father after attempting to break into a home early Thursday morning.

State police said around 1 a.m., they were called to 7 Meetinghouse Hill Circle for a report of an attempted burglary and shots fired.

When emergency officials arrived, they said they saw two men, one was sitting on the front lawn wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, and another was lying on the ground in the driveway with obvious gunshot wounds and was holding a weapon.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Neighbors tell Eyewitness News that a woman inside her home heard noises and called her brother who lives next door.

The neighbor armed himself with a gun and came outside to investigate.

State police said he was immediately confronted by a suspect standing in front of the caller's house dressed in all black, was wearing a black ski mask and was armed with a weapon.

A confrontation occurred, state police said, during which the suspect came toward the man in a threatening manner, still holding the object. The man told police he believed the suspect was going to attack him, so he shot the suspect.

The suspect then immediately collapsed to the ground and died.
Poor dad, idiot son?

So the kid broke into his aunts house...? With a weapon...? :seriously:

If he was just going to steal something just wait until the next time you go over for dinner... idiot.

I'm curious as to what type of 'weapon' the Son was holding.

The Father comes across as trigger happy.

I'm legitimately curious about the specifics, so I didn't want to undermine my post with the cliche American comment. The information given really isn't adding up.

The son is breaking into his aunt's house - that's strange, but teens do strange things that defy explanation all the time.

If I were to break into my aunt's house what would I bring? a pry bar, probably; a gun or a knife, no.

If I were caught by my aunt, uncle, cousin, dad, people who I know have access to a gun, how would I respond? "Don't shoot, it's me!" not, let's battle to the death, pry bar versus gun.

from the article

Quote:

It's unclear why Tyler was trying to break into his aunt's house and why he had a small gun.
judging from the creeper look he has + a gun, I'm going to assume he wanted to rape his aunt

But no one is going to truly know what happened. It's stupid how everyone is using the self-defense claim whenever they shoot someone. I believe in the article, it says that the dad confronted his son and the son charged him with a weapon? Highly unlikely imo unless his son is seriously fucked in the head especially since his dad was holding a gun

If there's a castle law in that state, self-defence doesn't matter. He can defend the house with deadly force.

I actually laughed out loud.
So much fail here.
Call 911
Kid is armed and has a ski mask
Aunts house
Kid lives next door
Sees his dad with a gun and still gets clipped.

Once again LOL
