Ways to unlock iPhone 5.... anyone?
 

I'm leaving for vacation this December and I want my iPhone 5 to be unlock.
I wonder if the phone is currently unlockable or a gevey sim will work on it?

no and no. sell it and get an unlocked one.

unlocks are possible but you gotta WAIT.... Devs cant just make one right away...

3 ways to have an unlocked iPhone 5 right now

1) Buy from Apple website
2) If you signed a contract for it then you have to either buy your contract out or wait until it's done and then pay 50 dollars to the carrier for unlocking
3) If you paid full price on a carrier locked one then you just have to pay the carrier to get it unlocked

if you are with telus they'll unlock it for you after 90days of signing up for $50. bell will follow suit. rogers and fido.. u have to pay buy out the phone +$50

You're saying that in Telus I dont need to buy the phone just pay $50...?

If that's the case I'll port over my 4 lines from Rogers to Telus. They will
also give me $1800 port-in credit.

That doesn't help you with your current situation. Telus will never unlock your iphone 5 from another carrier. You'd be best checking if your current provider will unlock for you for a fee.

I know that.... thats why I'll port all my numbers to Telus. Then use the phone for 3 months then unlock it. As a matter of fact they offer me $1800 credits for 4 lines with a good plan. I will sell all my iPhone 4s to pay off the cancellation fee of Rogers :fullofwin:

OMG! I went to Telus store and they told me they could only do it on iPhone 5.

Not sure about if Japanese carriers will do this... Before my road trip I just called FIDO and had them unlock it for me.

Don't they have GEVEY for iP5

I looked into unlocking, and it looks like you can't unlock a Softbank phone unless it's an iphone 4 or older. And then it's $200 anyway. If someone CAN unlock a 5, it will probably be about the same. In that case it makes more sense to just buy a Nexus 4 or something.

Will look into a GEYVEY, never heard of it. Edit: Nope, iphone 4 only, and would probably stop working after ios7 anyway
