800k Bob?

beatdownvictim 05-10-2016 10:10 AM

Well here I was thinking about putting my kids into public school in Vancouver..

I was talking to a mom of another kid in my sons daycare and shes getting her kid all ready to apply to st george and I thought she was fucking crazy. My wifes mainlander friends are doing all the same, putting their kids into "good" daycare/montessori schools so they look more acceptable to get in.

I should bring this up with my wife..she has no idea how public schools are here and wants my kids to go to mandarin immersion

edit: 901K :drunk:

Don't get me wrong, public schools on the Westside of Vancouver are great, my son goes to Mckechnie and will be going to Magee when he is old enough. A few of my son's friends are going to St George's but my wife and I decided our son is going to slum it when he goes to Magee! haha. On a separate note, St Georges is not the same it was 10years ago, it is pretty much filled with 50% mainlanders now. The culture has shifted there big time. If you are catholic, Vancouver College is still a very good school imo.

beatdownvictim 05-10-2016 11:42 AM

Technically we are...nothing
My kids would be attending Jamieson and then Churchill like me..hell I want my sons to go into trades lol

My wife's friend decided thought we were weird that we aren't considering st George's and told us to go to van college since tuition is half the amount

That's not too surprising, my girlfriend dragged me out to see the Ashbury and Oak units by Polygon this weekend in langley. After waiting 2 hours in line outside sweating my balls off, we finally got to see a walkthrough. The first phase sold out before they even had the show units ready.

Less than 1500 sq ft for 3 bedrooms and a den, side by side garage. They didn't even have pricing yet but the lady said the 3 bedrooms will be in the neighborhood of 475-500k.

Speaking of school. I have a group of friends that all went to Southridge (6 or 7 of them). They have been graduated for 12 years, and are a majority all a gongshow. Yes, they are very well educated. Have good manors when they need to, and can hold a conversation, but this doesn't mean it's going to get you far in life.
