For you ACURA owners...simple cheap mod
 

Credit to acurazine but I did the DIY today. Part no. of item is displayed. This fits most Acura front and rear calipers. (Except typeS front). They are the caliper covers off the new 2013 Acura RDX.

Got mine today...just needed the rears...and also spray painted the uncovered portion of the calipers a gloss black. Took maybe 2 hrs with a lot of that time waiting for drying and semi-RTV curing.

Apply RTV and affix...secure with masking tape

Done...you can touch up areas that show with a thin paint brush and paint them black

Area on caliper where I applied the RTV: ( NOTE: I later removed that small amt on the middle of the caliper as you don't want to glue that area since the caliper swings open there.

Looks clean. Will the RTV reliably hold the cover onto the caliper? It would be interesting to know what max temp that stuff is rated for.

I hate to rag on you but it would've turned out much cleaner if you disassembled the brakes and painted the rotors as well. Plus, how did you get the paint off the back of the rotor?

Painting rotors is a bad idea. Brake pads are made to be used on a bare metal rotor not a painted surface.

^I think he means painting the parts of the rotor that are not for contact, i.e. the areas with surface rust in the pics.

Definitely would have but didn't want to allocate too much time to get this done. Maybe when I put on my winters and/or next spring. This is more to see how these covers hold up to the elements.

Skipped this...cuz TLS has no brembos in back...didn't want to be a ricer with fake brembos lol.

I wonder if they fit RSX' ...i was looking to get something like this as normal calipers look dull and worn

One thing for sure, those covers are on there TIGHt! Did a few test yanks and got no movement...took car for short spin but didn't really pick up any speed...a good hwy run will be good test but giving it 24hrs to 'cure'.

Yes they will. Both front ( non type-s ) and rear.

prob gonna do this sometime this month... it was either this or paint them red(i had the red duplicolor at home already) so i painted them red yesterday... looks kinda ricey though...

Depends on the type of RTV you buy. Some are rated for low heat, others are rated for high heat (think valve covers, etc).

I'm actually offended you think I would paint the brake surface. :rukidding:

will this work on honda caliper or integra calipers?
