| Shuddering on my MK4 Jetta 1.8T
Hey guys so recently I bought a Mk4 Jetta with the 1.8T in it.
Recently the car would shudder hard when idling at red lights and stop signs and while accelerating. After about 5 minutes of this the shuddering more or less stops and everything continues as normal, that is normal driving without shudder.
Quite worried when I ran into posts by others with the same problem - http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819
What is going on? Is it a matter of a cold engine? Turbo leakage? Bad Clutch? What could it be?
Engine light isn't on and all fluids are up to date. The car is an automatic. It also has 70000km on it so I wouldn't consider the engine to be "well used".
Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Get the car scanned.. plenty of people on dubberz has it.
Could be ignition coils.. the particular motor has that well known problem.

Coils do have a TSB on them, check with the dealer to see if they've been done.

Coilpacks and fuel filter are common problems on vr6s and 1.8ts of this era.

Likely coil packs or fuel filter.

Ill check them out for my next repair (which hopefully wont be needed...) seem like they have good reviews, care about their stuff and is like 5 minutes from my house

I also have a mkiv 1.8T, and was wondering how to go about checking to see if recalls have been done or not. Do you just call the dealership with your VIN#?
BTW OP, here is list of the TSBs for the mkiv 1.8T http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/62/046205a4.html |
