i looked at one of the audi r8's at wilkinsons, but my thoughts on it were that the castings were a bit on the thick side (ie. thicker than autoart, but way better than what maisto puts out), and the wheels don't always look right, ie. sometimes too much tuck or poke, or wrong scale. but that is just me talking. i have very limited space and i do not have unlimited funds so i have to try and be very picky, otherwise everything at wilkinsons would be all miiiine :lol |
1 Attachment(s) Would a rx7 fit in? Or should is this s good collection? Black integra still needs to be put in. . |
8 GTRs....someone likes GTRs...:lawl: |
i think you are getting to the point where a display case or a shelving unit should be considered (or else you will be sleeping on the floor like i do)... hate to see one of those get bumped and roll off the countertop. |

i saw a white one 1-2 months ago the last time i was at wilkinsons. not sure if it still there. also not sure if it was a spec-v or a black series. |
Yah I don't know why the availability of effective displays for car models is so hurting... there's basically nothing appropriate out there without custom building... bookshelves are so deep they're a big waste of space and you can't stack 1:43's on them in their display boxes... and, I mean besides rolling off, you can't leave them in the open because the dust comes and it's literally impossible to get out of all the little nooks and crannies or even around the windshield wipers and whatnot. I use invisibly mounted glass/metal shelves from Ikea (varying lengths of this product: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50201874/) that are fairly shallow and keep the models in their boxes... but that obviously doesn't work for the Signature AA models since they come in those shitty black paper boxes. Also, these suckers weigh a lot more than you'd think collectively, so I have had the horrifying experience of a shelf that I guess I didn't hit any studs with when mounting it originally collapse and dump like 50+ models onto the hardwood... all of them in boxes, but I still lost a few clear cases and broke the mirror off a F355... although most of the damage was to my shorts being woken up from 50+ models and a glass shelf shattering into the ground at 4am in the morning hahaha |
68style: i'm using a makeup powder brush for the nooks and crannies etc. has to be soft bristles because the hard bristles will scratch (i learned this the hard way :( ). i asked wilkinsons about one of their 1/64 wall hung display cases. it was somewhere between $350-400. acrylic cases are not the easiest to build. i haven't had a shelf go bad on me (yet)... but as the collection grows, the big earthquake we're supposed to have becomes more of a concern. |
