gender bender

has anyone had to deal with a transgender person at work? if you knew them as male/female then they turned up the opposite the next day, how do you adjust your view of them? :nyan:

Hmmm sticky situation. For me I guess I'd be pretty freaked if Cman showed up as Cwoman one day.

Whoa... That's weird as hell,

Is the person mostly one gender? Or does heshe dress opposite very frequently?

If its very frequent I guess I would get used to it, I would probably ask them up front if they want me to call them by a different name when they switch it up so it's easier for me to differentiate the who sexes

they always came to work as a man, then one day they just showed up as a woman. It was a little weird. But no one discriminated or made fun of them. I was just curious if anyone has experience with this and how do you get your thoughts to work with it?

dinosaur 10-17-2012 10:04 AM

meh. won't care much...if i had any questions, i'd just sit down with them and talk about it.

Although....I work with Grid so I would take some issue with it.

Gridlock 10-22-2012 08:43 AM

At a warehouse, we had a temp that came as a kind of woman.

Personally, I don't give a shit. However, all the warehouse grunts, union staff and temp alike, plus most of the office people in the warehouse gave maximum shits. The shit that would get said was disgusting. Oh, all polite and behind her back of course.

And not a single fucking thing was done.

Here's my thing. In this world, every one should have a true chance at happiness. If it doesn't hurt others, and doesn't affect their job, then who fucking cares.

Is it weird? Define weird. I've been labeled weird. I've labeled others as weird. If you can't be yourself on this planet, and find others that are like you, I think that's the saddest thing.

Do I think a dude in make-up is at all convincing from less than 50 feet? Nope. And even better, no dude in drag on this world has ever learned that "less is more". They go so over the top drag queen diva it becomes funny.

But it makes them happy. We all know whats happening here, so why be all fucking stupid about it? Go over, sit next to cinderella and say, "so this is new. what do you want me to call you?"

they don't come in all of a sudden changing. we have tons of gays and lesbians at work and we are in a big fortune 100 company. it's not an issue at all.

So, I sat down and had a talk with Her. It seems that this was something that she was planning to do for some time, but was afraid of the consequences from the employer. Same personality, same person, different look. Oh and She looks a lot better than He did.

Saywhat? 11-12-2012 11:58 AM

I ask myself: "does this affect me?"

If not, then I move on! Live and let live.
