Value of my wheels and rims

Hi, This is an honest question to poeple who sells their stuff here or on craigslist. Back in 2007 I have a staggered set of authentic black Volk 19in TE37 on my 350Z. I drove it one summer. I have since moved and sold my car. I kept the wheel and tires in storage until this summer. I did plan to purchase another Z so i can reuse my TE37 again, but that plan fell through, I have another vehicle now (econo shitbox), which the TE37 wont fit and I kinda lost interest in modding anyways.

So My question is : What is the value if I want to sell it?
19in TE37 for 350Z staggered setup (black original color)
Tires are T1S , i think its got about 90% tread.

Problem is I hit a pothole one night, so 1 rim has to be fixed (slight lip bent)--> I assume cost to fix is about 300$?

My chinese neighbor who is a mechanic offered $950 for the entire thing, which i turned down because I call that bullshit.

So tell me what it is worth now, I need a rough idea, so i can list and sell.

Sorry to say, but the tires aren't worth anything after 5 years.
Tire Tech Information - Tire Aging – Part #1

A quick search on craigslist shows $1200 to $1900, so your neighbor is probably low-balling you.

Lomac 10-19-2012 10:46 AM

Can't speak for the TE37's, but ^^ is correct about the tires. They're nearing the end of their life span, even with the majority of the tread still on the tire. The longevity of the tires will depend on where they were stored and what the overall temperature and humidity of said storage was, but generally speaking, I wouldn't risk driving on them.

Unfortunately that leaves with you just the generic pricing of the rims alone.

TRDood 10-19-2012 11:22 AM

Why don't you take a look at CL or nissan/infiniti forums?

Listing the width and manufacture date of your wheels will help.

For 3 very good rims, and 1 bent rim, TE37... probably around $1500? Yeah, tires are worth nothing.

If they still make the rims, then the buyer can spend $800 for one wheel and match the rest. But if they are discontinued, then it will be $300 to fix... and another ~$800 to colour match everything.

You're in a rough situation. The sizing and offset matters. If its wide and aggressive you will have a better chance selling.

To this date people are buying TE37 Replica Varrstoen wheels because a whole set can be had for $1k. I think your lowballing neighbor is a few hundred off but repairing the one wheel will be very expensive and might not be worth a buyers time.

wasabisashimi 10-19-2012 12:04 PM

I will check my offset and front back width. Its been a long time to remember my specs. When it is on the Z, its is a flush fit with maybe a few milimeter extra out of fender.

Agreed. Your price should reflect this. Either get the wheel repaired or prepare for more low ball offers.

wasabisashimi 10-19-2012 12:33 PM

I am prepared to discount the price of repair.

Phil@rise 10-19-2012 01:00 PM

Get the one fixed. If the rubber isnt checking or hasnt gone hard then dont worry to much bout the tires and ask 2g's for em. Are they worth that no but anyone looking to buy new 37's would check em out and low ball you from there. No point in sellin with a fucked rim cus all it does is raise questions on the rest of them and all your going to get is 1000 buck offers on em nothin more.
How baddly bent is the rim? I have gotten away with a block of wood and a mallet on a couple forged rims in my time. Not sayin its the best approach but its not a bad approach on a slight flat spot.

Sky_High 10-19-2012 01:59 PM

I'll buy the whole set off you for $500.

LMK if you're interested :troll:

AVS_Racing 10-19-2012 02:02 PM

also you have to look at the size of your wheel obviously not many cars can pull off 350z sizing, 15x7 4x100 is a whole different story.

and people who are looking for real te37s might rather pay for a new set to get colour, specs, offset to their exact application

That transfers the risk to the buyer - why would they buy the wheels without some sort of premium for that risk?

If you know for sure you can fix the wheels for a set price, I would fix it.

freakshow 10-19-2012 03:13 PM

+1 on fixing the rim yourself, looks way less shady.

If you tell me it costs $300 to fix, I would make you take off at least 600 just in case.

jackal 10-19-2012 10:38 PM

another thing to note is that there are different degrees of "bent lips" if thw eheel will balance and still hold air then don't bother repairing them. 19" genuine te's should be well over 2k. new these wheels cost 3500 ish. and as long as the tires weren't left out in the sun they will be fine and i would sell them for 500 assuming they are as you described. i would post 2800 for the set and expect to get 23-2500

CorneringArtist 10-19-2012 10:56 PM

If it was me I'd value them at 2500 for everything despite the bend, and fold down to 22 if the offer comes up. But then you get assholes like the guy in the photo there and like your neighbor offering 1k because of age, which is bullshit. Anyone who even has a basic knowledge of wheels knows that TE37's are expensive.

brand new set of TE37 in 19" would easily run you 4500 after taxes +++
without rubber

people are idiots

jackal 10-19-2012 11:39 PM

and i lol at people comparing te's to varstoen's the more varstoen's out there the more special it is to have a real set of te's it doesn't de-value them one bit.

GG 10-20-2012 12:21 AM

fake LV goes for 20 dollar in flea market

its the same, no seriously. its the same deal yo

why pay 600 for authentic one?

VOLK comparing with varrosten

i feel ashamed for even having that thought

SpuGen 10-20-2012 09:54 AM

Gonna need actual sizing to give you a proper quote on the value. (width, offset)
Not gonna link to other forums. But to give you a rundown of the price you should be expecting.

So up for sale are Volk te37's 17x9.5 +12 18x10.5 +15. Took me a long time to find these two pairs to build this setup. After buying both pairs i fully refinished both of them. New stickers and a new finish. I also ordered the optional center caps for these wheels and had those done in the same white along with the wheels.

These are Grand Prix White finish

Tires up front are 90% Toyo r1r 245 35 17 ($180 ea)
Tires in the back are 70% Advan A048 295 30 18 ($470 ea)

To give you an idea of what this setup would cost new

Wheels-$4000
Tires-$1500
Center Caps-$200

Would be around $6k to replicate this setup. I am asking almost half of that for the price.

$3200 for the setup

This is from one forum.
I'm sure you can get some research done on some Z forums.

Post the sizing. I might offer you much more than $900.

Benz_05TSX 10-20-2012 11:33 AM

19" TE37s pricing have been changing due to widths and offsets, like everyone said. But it also depends on regions. Canada seems to have a higher pricing for the 19s TE37s. In the states, its SUPER CHEAP for 19s, because demand is low now. People love stance and would go reps for more aggressive offset.

And honestly, what you should price is what it is ACTUALLY worth to you. If you want $3000 out of it, then price it at that. If you don't care and you are happy with $1000, then price it at that.
