felt like that the first time on my sportbike too... way different than the CRF's at PRS lol


anyway, saw someone riding at night in the pouring rain earlier this week... mad props

its some what fun riding in the rain...wish i had a 250 or a motard to ride in the rain :(

i wish i had rain gear! Riding in the rain feels so badass, especially when you know your homies know what you're going through. I only do it on the way home, never out.

saw a raven r6 coming over knight street the last dump of rain we had at night. hope he saw my thumbs up.

Riding in a hail storm is more fun.

My luck, I have ridden Port Mann, Pattullo and Golden Ears Bridges in hail, all in one year.

Personally, I hate riding in the rain. So if the forecast says at least 30% chance of showers I will drive. Learned this lesson after getting caught in full on rain about three times. After all, that is why I have a car.

I think riding in the rain is beneficial to a certain extent because it forces you to be really smooth. I locked up my front and my rears and was lucky enough to recover from it, but definitely wouldn't have known how it is if I didn't experience that

Earlier this year I road from EMS to home (PoCo) in the rain with A* SMX-5, it took three days to dry out the boots.

Also those boots have no traction when it is wet.

When it is going to rain I wear my RSD boots.

Rode in the rain yesterday. Rain feels like hail on the face and eyes at 60kph+

lol...i remember when i went squid to the gym...came back and it was raining. Boy was that ride back rough...even at 50-60, it felt like your getting whipped all over the place

I ride all year long. Only days I don't is when I know there's ice on the ground. Other than that, all gear, all the time! Wouldn't trade it for anything. FYI, heated grips, go a long way.

hey noraath i need some tips.

Since you ride all year round except for ice how do you judge that? Logically i would think its purely based on temperature since water can come from anywhere and freeze regardless of rain. If it is temperature, what temperature do you not go out in so i can follow your experience

It's partially temperature and humidity. As weird as it sounds, if it's raining, chances are good there's no ice seeing as rain = water, and also air temperature is warmer from the cloud cover than a clear sky. Also, I don't ride over bridges at night or if it's not raining. Air temperature over/under a bridge is much cooler from the water (black ice). There's a lot of little things to think about when you ride, but ultimately, always wear your gear as a backup in case things aren't as planned.

This year I started riding in January and will ride till November.

That is 11 out of 12 months.

Next year I will get the bike on the road by late March.

nice info, I know from experience that bridges are slippery but never thought of the air underneath!

i ride till the snow comes down;D
