Sounds pretty normal. When I was shopping OEM front lip for my s2k, each dealer had different pricing, with differences being quite significant. Take some time and compare, or just go to ebay. |
called Acura for a intake box screw, they said $13 bucks, I say F U. Checked Acura in the states for the same screw $0.50, I still say F U Acura Canada. |
If you want to buy a part from the closest dealer but another one has a lower price, simply ask the first dealer to price match the other one. They almost always say yes. |
Hmm... When my dad had a Ford, he ordered all his parts from Brown Bros. Gave him a reasonable price  |
It's frustrating, and the more you think about it, the more pissed off you get (at least that's me). If you have the time, the states always seems to be the place to go, or at least order from. Quote:

too bad i just spent $70 on front timing cover seals on my truck at the local stealer, when it could have been much cheaper. oh well... |
All dealers will buy the parts from Ford at the same price, however, what they mark up and charge the end customer is determined by the dealer. Ford does not control the retail price of parts, just like they don't control the retail price of cars. It's called an MSRP (Manufacturer's SUGGESTED retail price). Dealers charge whatever they want. |
It's more than ridiculous. I'd be happy to support local businesses but I order most things from the states because it's always SO MUCH CHEAPER and usually faster too. |

TPMS is a pain. I prefer the old days pull in to full serve gas station have em check your pressure if your not in the know how. I tell my missus to do this all the time so I dont have to deal with it lol |

Now that you know this is a normal practice in the industry, I would highly suggest you start rubbing elbows with the parts guys and make friends. Parts guys should always be in your "I know a guy who can..." list. Because you never know...when you really need that part and everybody else is charging an arm and a leg...yeah. That, or buck up and order online. :okay: |
Very normal among Lexus' and Toyota dealerships around Lower Mainland.... OP, is this the first time you buying parts? :suspicious: |
First time in a long time not having an a friend who works at Lordco or a shop I could use for a discount :okay: |

The buck goes to a third party, so the employees have always been happy to turn the compressor on in my experience. Quote:

What if they start charging you for using their window cleaner squigees? |
most chevrons tend to have air available to check your tire pressure, for free. If you don't have a gauge on hand, then you could borrow the one from the cashier. I've always appreciated this from chevron, but I tend to favor shell gasoline. I also agree, tpms is a joke. Great if it works, but most of the time they are finicky and nothing but problems. |

..Of course, they're the only stations around that have 94 octane available. |

Recently got a quote for a Acura TL starter. Ranged from $320-478 depending on the Acura Dealerships, while Lordco sells it for $220. LOL |
