AVOID Brazilian healthcare...unless you want to be injected with...

Nurse Kills Patient with Coffee Injection - Coffee Accidentally Injected into Patient - Delish.ca

A student nurse in Brazil badly botched an intravenous drip when she accidentally injected coffee into her patient. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the elderly woman who suffered when the milky coffee went straight to her vital organs.

According to Medical Daily, 23-year-old Rejane Moreira Telles had only three days of work experience when she attempted the intravenous feed. "Anyone can get confused," Telles stated on Brazilian TV. "I injected the coffee and I put it in the wrong place." What was Telles' explanation for getting confused? She mixed up the drip and the coffee because they were sitting next to each other.

Telles has been charged with involuntary manslaughter along with two other nurses and one additional student. She now admits that she wasn't trained to perform the intravenous procedure.

Doctors brought on the Brazilian show, Fantastico, which aired the Telles story, explained that the milky coffee went to the woman's heart and lungs, and drowned her just hours later.

Even more disturbing is that the victim's daughter witnessed the coffee injection first hand. Ribeiro explained, "I saw my mother was agitated, she opened her mouth, and this youngster put coffee with milk into the veins of my mother. Half a glass."

I like how she makes it sound like she knew she was injecting coffee and simply injected it into the wrong spot.

...unless that's what the intentions were... :suspicious:

Was the person colour blind? I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but I'm guessing the drip was not black or brown.

the real question is...did the patient ask for drip coffee? :derp:

I won't lie: I looked at the girl's chest first before looking at the coffee.

I sure hope the rest of you did too. :D
