lol I hope ICBC sides with you on this when they rear end you cause you blinded them with this aftermarket Switch/HID.

who said i was putting it on a switch? i said PEOPLE do, because it was posted in an above comment.

and in reply to others, my car is an 89, the didn't design the reverse lights with function in mind, they are practically useless, newer cars are obviously better because they would at least make an effort to make them functional

BrRsn 10-31-2012 01:30 PM

all you guys flaming him have never had to back up a car with tinted (or even non-tinted) windows down a dark or unlit road.

The fact that it might create glare is a moot point because 1) nobody drives in reverse down a highway and 2) they don't shoot out 180 degrees like HID's in a projector housing do.

People have been using hitch back up lights for ages ie
http://www.amazon.com/Light-Buster-Trailer-Hitch/dp/B000EYUBBK/
this is just a more aesthetically pleasing alternative so please save the guy the flaming.

And newer cars aren't better ... most of them have a little 5watt bulb.
The only new car that looks like it even has half-decent backup lights is the pontiac sunfire

OP trade in ur car for a sunfire

Why don't you get LEDs for your reverse lights instead of a HID kit?

The_AK 10-31-2012 02:21 PM

this is my kind of mod

TRDood 10-31-2012 02:22 PM

LEDs bulbs for the license plate light is pretty bright already. I am still using the ones icemiko sold me last year(?). Except one of my dome light is now burned/not working.

icemiko, do you sell any LEDs for reverse light? :D

SumAznGuy 10-31-2012 02:26 PM

I just ordered a pair from Deal Extreme.

Can't wait to try them on my truck.

some what? HID or LED

AVS_Racing 10-31-2012 02:41 PM

Yes, HID reverse lights are particularly useful if your car has tint + is low, especially if its pissing rain and dark 2/3s of the year in van

HIDs would be far brighter than LEDs, which is what I have them in my car now. It looks nice, but can't really see much.

I wish I could stick HIDs into my reverse lights, but there just isn't any room :okay:

putting hids in your reverse light is just plain stupid...

replying on a thread with little knowledge about the contents is just plain stupid:suspicious:

another thing, this is probably the last forum in the world u should criticize for people wanting to do things to their cars, pretty much everything we do to our cars people find stupid, but we do it cuz we like it, i happen to want bright reverse lights, and they happen to be functional.

in replies to others, im looking into LED bulbs from another member to see if its going to be sufficient, otherwise HID it is.

BrRsn 11-01-2012 11:06 AM

don't do LED -- they're great for enclosed areas but they suck for throwing light any distance which is what you want. Just get HIDs just make sure they're low wattage so you don't burn out a fuse.

I've been thinking of HID reverse lights for my QX. The stock bulbs are shit when it comes to lighting hence why I bought some LED bulbs.

If I do go HID's, is there any way to properly delay the start when I go from Park to Drive?

1.5 years ago that statement would have been correct but now you can get 13 watt LED headlight replacment bulbs.

i wonder what the officer would say when issuing you the ticket

Officer: "sir im writing you this ticket for being to cautious and aware of your surroundings! also, i happened to blind myself because i decided to stare at your reverse lights rather then not look directly at them"

:fuckthatshit:

The new Nissan Leaf electic car uses LED headlights and they are *almost* as bright as HID's.

Peturbo 11-01-2012 04:44 PM

^ So does the new Honda accord and BMW 650 coupe. Honda did a good job with them.
