What happens if the autoplan broker gives you the wrong insurance? So, was recently getting quotes at 2 insurance places for rates for a cbr125r. One insurance place told me it would be like 500 for just basic and 1mil liability. this other place told me it would be 356 for basic, comp, 1mil liability... what happens if the guy gives me the wrong insurance and i get into a accident? whos at fault if they go "you don't have the proper insurance" in reality.. we don't select what the guy presses nor do we know the icbc codes... so what happens  |
Err you get a total printout of everything that the agent pushes... it's not rocket science when you go over your printed receipt... Mark |

like in reality, i'd be paying more for insurance for my bws over my cbr125 if this was the case. |
If you believe your insurance papers are showing the incorrect information, then the easiest thing to do is to go back to have it corrected. Why take a chance when you can have it fixed. |
You save $150 for insurance that may or may not be valid? |
This happened to my sister, They somehow messed up her insurance (I believe it had something to do with under 10 years of experience) And she slid into a ditch in a blizzard in calgary, Totalled a near new Suburban... Ended up paying like 40% because the broker messed up her insurance. Moral of the story, GO GET IT FIXED, Before it costs you $24,000 |
you know how you sign the papers like 15 times an initial here here and here? thats you signing the contract. meaning you understand what you're purchasing. its YOUR fault for agreeing to incorrect coverage. but it sounds like the agent may have screwed up. so go see someone different. its free and takes 10 minutes. Rate Class 310 => 110 cc or less 311 => 111 to 400 cc 312 => 401 to 750 cc 313 => 751 to 1150 cc 314 => Over 1150 cc |
Or call ICBC and get clarification for your needs |
+1 others have said.. check your papers, and make sure its rated properly.. If its wrong, then go to an autoplan agent, or go back to that broker. You can always complain to the supervisor/manager in that branch. |
thats why you have a copy of your insurance which STATES everything of what is covered.. if you fail to read it and see if its correct, then its your fault.. doesnt that make sense? |
Normal people wouldn't know what "Rate Class 310" "Rate Class 250" "Rate Class 466" is to begin with. When the autoplan agent hands you your paper, you expect the information for vehicle rate class is correct. I'd look it over with a different broker to confirm the insurance and everything else is correct. If it isn't, complain :D. |
This is why you go to a reputable insurance agent and you stick with them. There should always be an insurance agent in your "go to" list, much like a mechanic and tailor. Go see Ena @ Cassells Insurance Brokerage to sort this mess out. She's dealt with so many insurance mess ups and motorcyclists, it's a laughing matter. |

They can't put the wrong vin either because it will show as belonging to someone else or not registered in bc. It's pretty fool proof unless you are the fool and don't read what coverage you have. |
And if you want a really good insurance agent, ask for Johnny, Stacey or Ashley with AllWest Insurance in North Van. They are super experienced and know their shit 100%. |
