So rumors are circulating that Tyrese is coming in at the end of Season 3.

Michionne had it wayyyy worse in the comic, it was like tied up, beaten the fuck up, and raped repeatedly

woodbury is too calm in the show, and yea i agree that in the comic the governor looked like a red neck hillbilly

lol in the show he looks like a younger liam neeson

Anyone think that Maggie in the show is going to get tortured like Michonne in the comic? I think that's going to be a stretch since they REALLY tamed the Woodbury arc. Woodbury doesn't even seem that bad of a place and the governor seems like a normal guy (minus his zombie daughter). He's nowhere near as crazy as comic governor...

The way they portray Andrea in the show is really poor too. I was excited when he was going on the wall since she "was a pretty good shot" but it went to a bow and arrow lol. It's too bad the show is deviating from the comic so much.

Didn't he have kind of a hate for michonne which was a reason why she got raped? Obviously they hate each other in the tv show so who knows, maybe michonne ends up back there and gets raped.

I like the fact that the governor is more tame. Feels more acceptable that way in live action. But I wish he seemed a bit crazier when he's not in the public.

I'm also glad they deviate from the comics. This story is about shock value and surprises. There would be none if they followed the book exactly.

The story is much less compelling compared to the comics.

nabs 11-20-2012 05:18 PM

got 1 - 90... i guess ill have to buy the rest when/if i get there.

StylinRed 11-20-2012 05:26 PM

in the show the governor actually seems like a good guy and id rather stay with his group unlike in the comic

shame walking dead isn't an HBO production imagine it'd be a lot more like the comic

DanHibiki 11-20-2012 06:14 PM

But this way you get twice the walking dead!

This exactly. Why wouldn't anyone want to stay there right now? From the audience's perspective, Woodbury is a great place to live. Just ignore the killing of other people for supplies and there's really nothing wrong with the place.

I don't feel like the Governor is the "bad guy" in this arc yet. I'm sure I'll feel that way in a couple of episodes though.

Ronin 11-21-2012 11:58 AM

What I'm afraid of is that they drag this arc out too long. I didn't expect this to last more than a season before but now I think the prison arc will be season 3 and 4. They announced that Tyrese will join the cast soon.

If that's the case, maybe the Gov isn't a real "bad guy" til S4?

If they go with a similar timeline to the comics it probably will be Season 3 and 4. We're almost a third of the way through the Prison arc and Tyrese dies near the end of it. To introduce Tyrese at basically season 4 and kill him off a couple episodes later would really suck haha.

true, i should rephrase my comment though; with HBO at helm it would probably be a lot darker/fucked up ;)

I thought they would kill T-Dog like Tyrese, which would make a fuck ton more sense then introducing a new character to the prison (HOW!?) then having the Gov kill him. Remember Tyrese was a big part of the group. Everyone was fucking SAD when they thought he died in that room in the prison where he killed all those zombies with his fists. If Tyrese dies the same way, it wouldn't have the same effect, really. Remember how Glenn talks about T-Dog? That was Tyrese in the comics.

This is weird...all the characters are radically different.

Herschel = Dale
Maggie = Michonne?

Lori sucks. Michonne sucks. Andrea for fucks sake sucks. I mean, Andrea is the best character in the comics. She's awesome, shoots straight and doesn't whine. Carl is...well, now Carl sucks in both.

im really enjoying the comics. I'm on 13, and i like how fast paced it is.

And the story is very different than the show... just seems like the comic book hits on the milestones that the show takes many episodes to portray, but it makes sense tho.

i like the fact that i now get 2 x The walking dead

yup. a lot of people complain about it being so different from the comics but i with u, we get twice the goodies now!

Ronin 11-29-2012 12:41 AM

If that's what they were going to do, they should've just made a new story. Kirkman's world is clearly capable of handling more than one storyline, as the game and multiple novels have successfully demonstrated.

Because they're butchering characters like Andrea and the Governor.

Still, a mediocre series about zombies on AMC is better than 95% of television...

DanHibiki 11-29-2012 12:56 AM

It's just a slightly different take on the comics like a lot of superhero movies.

JKam 11-29-2012 09:29 AM

More than slightly when Andrea and the Governor are the polar opposite of what they're supposed to be.

That's like changing Storm from a leader of the X-Men to Jubilee status and Magneto is someone who just wants to get along with humans. (although... you're right they did that with Cyclops in the movies)

But I'm still happy I get twice the Walking Dead. The multiple storyline idea would have been cool though.
