What to do?
 

Friend got into an at fault accident in which he lost the contact info of the other party before he was able to make a claim.

It was a low speed accident and my friends license plate screws left a pea sized bite mark on a plastic, non-painted, bumper of the other guys 20+ year old honda. He took 100% responsibility of the accident.

Would icbc have contacted him already if the other party made a claim accordingly? or would they be waiting till he made a claim as well.

No contact from the other party has been attempted as well even though they have his #.

It's been 3weeks since the accident.

Friend is hoping the other party just let it go since damage seems to be minimal.
How much would repairing something like that cost?

related question: in cases like these, is the other party entitled to a brand new bumper or a repair job? i guess age and condition of the bumper plays a factor in this?

It's not like your friend did a hit and run. So just wait for the claim and pay ICBC off when its all said and done

If the other guy made a claim, your friend will get a letter in the mail, usually within 10 days. after getting the letter, your friend has 5 days to call ICBC.

So yes, he should have been contacted already, again, by mail.

Depending on the other car. If the other guy goes to ICBC and they see that his bumper was fucked to begin with, they will cite previous damage and probably not award him much.

A cheap prep + paint costs about 4~500. ICBC has a book with values, so the other guy can't gouge your friend.

It probably wasn't worth the other guy's time. I know if I was driving a 20 year old beater, I wouldn't want a brand-new rear bumper to go along with the faded and rusty rest of the car.

if your at fault in these kinda things. let it be and if some how in the icbc computer it glitches or the guy doesnt file w.e. it is. as long as you dont hear from them. then go out and have a beer.
but I believe they have 6 months to file a claim though. so I guess have a beer after 6 months. :badpokerface:
