help with GM stereo intall The factory stereo in my 05 avalanche packed it in. I'm going to be running a double din stereo. From what I've been told I need a GMRC-02 adapter so onstar and the CHIME works. Do I really need this adapter? I could give two fucks. Can I install the new stereo directly into the factory harness? Is there any amps I need to bypass or dissable? |
As long as it doesn't say "Bose", you're fine. You will need to incorporate an accessory lead as it's not in the dash. |
it say BOSE... What do I do? I'm stumped and everyone is telling me different things. |

Go to Metra Online | Welcome to Metra Auto Parts Online Warehouse and enter your vehicle on the right side of the screen. Web site will provide the parts available for your vehicle. You'll need an antenna adaptor, harness, and install kit. |
If you're on a budget you can bypass the amplifier which is located under the centre console. You'll also need to grab accessory as well which, for '05, could be a small brown wire at ignition. You will need to relay this wire to bump up the power but that isn't too hard. Otherwise, the radio module will do it all but you'll have to pay! |
thanks guys. How much could you sell me a gmos-04 for? |
