Unlocking phones for Fido

Probably an issue (unlocking) beaten to death, but I haven't done it before. I am thinking about switching to Fido, but want a phone that is not offered by them (Nexus 4). How can I unlock the phone to work on Fido once I get it?

Thanks

Nexus 4 is already unlocked.

All phones from Google are unlocked.

Thanks, that was easy.

i'm trying to unlock my fido iphone 4s. Anyone know how much fido charges for the factory unlock or if there's any other good reputable place around here that ppl may have used that offer factory unlock? (I don't want to just jailbreak and unlock)

Fido unlocks iPhone for 50 as long as u bought the iPhone from them and your contract is over. So the phone is effectively bought out already.

^ The phone that I have is not in contract and also is not registered to any account. I am not a fido customer myself (No, the phone is not stolen or anything) so I am not sure how or what to say to fido.

If the phone was bought without a contract at the Apple Store, then it is unlocked by default.

It wasn't bought at the apple store but yah that usually is the case. Anyways, I called fido and was able to get it unlocked without an issue but had to pay the 50. Thanks for responses though!

You are not a fido customer but they were willing to unlock it for you? I'm surprised to hear that because I was just reading up on this today (except for Rogers). I have a Rogers iphone that I want to unlock but from what I'm reading, they require you to be with Rogers so they can deduct the $50 off your invoice.

That's exactly what I thought. For Rogers, they won't do any unlocking unless you are a current customer in their system. Otherwise they wouldn't even want the 50 dollars from you.

I had to find a fido customer willing to put the phone on their account, just register the imei number on their account and have them do it. Then just paid them with cash.
