Nestled in the engine bay will be the buyer’s choice of two flat-six motors: the standard model will use a 2.7-liter unit with 275 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque, and the uplevel Cayman S gets a 3.4-liter mill that produces 325 ponies and 273 lb-ft of twist. As before, a six-speed manual is standard while Porsche’s PDK seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is included in the options list.

Though the wheelbase has grown by 2.4 inches compared with previous model, weight is actually down by as much as 60 pounds (depending on equipment), helping both acceleration and fuel economy. Fitted with the PDK and the Sport Chrono package, the base model achieves sixty mph from a standstill in a claimed (and likely conservative) 5.1 seconds; the Cayman S can do the deed in 4.4 ticks.

Complimenting the Cayman’s straight-line talents are numerous optional extras, including a brake-induced torque-vectoring system, an updated version of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and active transmission mounts (part of the Sport Chrono Package) that stiffen to reduce drivetrain movement during spirited driving.

The 2014 Cayman will begin arriving at Porsche dealerships son April 27, 2013. Pricing will begin at $52,600 for the base model, and the Cayman S will command $63,800.

that is one sweet looking update. Rear looks a bit like the 'Bug though.

Love the updates to the Boxster, Cayman and 911 this round - really great details. The rear spoiler is awesome, the side vent is terrific etc etc.

donjalapeno 11-28-2012 06:55 PM

E.D.C.5 11-28-2012 10:25 PM

Energy 11-28-2012 10:36 PM

Do want!

Jgresch 11-28-2012 10:42 PM

I really dig the new rears a lot. Headlights kind of remind me of Toyota mr2 though.

Looks amazing, can't wait to see one on the road. Seriously, Porsche vehicles cannot be judged by looking at photos, it's a totally different feeling seeing one on the road. They just have so much presence.

Groot 11-28-2012 10:53 PM

came in here thinking that it was going to be a different car like the "2014 SLS" thread...

because RevScene.

westopher 11-28-2012 11:36 PM

My god, its beautiful. Could a slightly used absolutely bone stock base model, that I still can't really afford, but can squeeze out payments on if I get a good raise be in my future? I think maybe its possible.......

Gridlock 11-29-2012 07:41 AM

My old client had a Cayman...upgraded to an Aston. His take was he would not choose to do so again.

Timpo 11-29-2012 03:32 PM

it's a boxster with roof...as usual

BoredAtWork 11-29-2012 07:17 PM

those headlights (like the new boxster) makes it look like a Ferrari 599 in a good way.

twitchyzero 11-29-2012 07:37 PM

updated the OP with new promo vid.

Hondaracer 11-29-2012 07:50 PM

never been a fan of the cayman

radioman 11-29-2012 07:56 PM

Looks good! I've always wanted a porsche and don't like the boxster. I'm glad this car exists so many when I'm fat and old I can buy the inbetween porsche since I don't have 911 money :okay:

Weird how in the promo video shots of the rear for the yellow cayman made me think "beetle" but the darker toned grey cayman made me think "sexy"

Would want this car in a darker color like a dark blue, grey, black

twitchyzero 11-29-2012 08:00 PM

wait a few years for this and BRZ as second hand US imports
:ahwow:

gripenM 11-29-2012 08:22 PM

can't wait to see what the cayman R would look like and what the specs would be

Marco911 12-03-2012 07:04 AM

<Love> I've always wanted a Cayman S but my need to drag friends and former lovers necessitates a rear seat. So the 911 it is.

ApePee2 12-03-2012 09:17 AM

do want.....:considered:

you should look at the new Boxster, cuz that will really remind you of an MR-S.

but yeah, after seeing the new Boxster this new Cayman is pretty much the same as far as looks go. both are gorgeous.
