Maybe not, but here's the thing. Yes, the movie was a visual orgasm. I have no qualms with admitting that the there were some fantastic CG and, while I despise 3D films with a passion, it was at least acceptable in this movie. However, that's all it had going for it. Don't get me wrong; I love Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez. Hell, I even worked for James Cameron many years ago and while he was an ass, at least he was a nice one. But even with all that, it still had a shitty storyline and poor acting. I'm positive that, like Titanic, it was one of those word-of-mouth movies that got everyone going. Teens would see it and tell their friends. Then when it became so popular, their parents would go see just what all the hoopla was about. I've seen far better movies tank at the box office simply because it never got off the ground with a good target audience.

And that's what disappoints me the most; everyone wants to see the Jerry Bruckheimer-esque action movies or American Pie style comedies (don't get me wrong... I love those as well), but to hell with a good drama.

I blame today's youth. :D

For those who hated Avatar, what movie would you recommend that is along the same line of movie? Don't say fuckin the shawshank redemption. I mean a full blown action/adventure with groundbreaking visuals? Avatar isn't remembered, and Im pretty sure I dont recall it being advertized) for being the best original story or having the best acting. It is remembered for being visually next level. Is Terminator2 considered an acting masterpiece? lol

Everyone should watch RLM's Avatar review. He hits the nail on the head with everything.

Avatar blows.

I'd argue that Inception has all 3: Story, visuals, and superb acting.

T2 had a fairly original story and had solid action sequences. Avatar had visuals. That's it. Plus the theme and overall message was so preachy.

In the end, the story always makes the movie, not visuals; well for me at least.
