2003-2007 honda accord v6 recall

just heads up for any accord owners, I received letter in mail for 03-07 accord v6 to bring their vehicles in for free inspection of power steering feed hose because of leaks that could cause underhood fire and damage. My symptoms are, excessive amounts of steering fluid loss which probably is why my steering has been so bad.

Honda will install a temporary hose until new permanent repair parts are available early into the new year and will notify you and will be covered by them.

So did you go to Honda? How long did it take?

I got my letter about a month ago but i didn't have any leaks so I didn't bother going in for service...

i have an appointment for next week. You should take yours in for the free inspection since you received the letter with your VIN # which is most likely affected. Better to do it now while its available then be sorry later on. The damage occurs over time so. Mine was fine a few months ago but then lately I've been replacing the steering fluid so frequently. Honda already ordered me a temporary part for the repair next week because I told them I've been replacing the fluid.

The repair will take a few hours or so and they will notify you when the permanent parts are available. Everything is covered for free even though my letter was also from Oct which I did not find until recent.

i took mine in about a month ago when i heard it on the radio. they just did a check and saw no problems & to come back next year when they get parts in. no work done.

are you the original owner and if not have you taken your car in for servicing at a dealer? when i took mine in they said i'll be notified and i said i wasn't the original owner on record and they said don't worry you're in our system now b/c i got my oil changes with them and should be notified. i'll post back here if/when i get notified by them if that helps.

i am the second owner, never had my vehicle serviced at honda before. All I did was call in and said I received the letter and they checked my VIN and right away said they will order in the temporary part for me. Also when I brought my vehicle in, they did inspection, there was another damaged steering part that is not covered by the recall. I don't know if it was just a money grab but they only gave me back one part, charged me 150$ for the "other damaged" part. I am going to have to double check. Pretty sure it was legitimate though since I did lose alot of power steering fluid every month.

Any of you have the 6 speed version?

I'm having the known 3rd gear problem and honda wont look at it unless it happens all the time

I have the auto counterpart of your car...same colour and everything I think.

We should compare issues haha

i had the issue except honda believed that it was not part of the recall because my VIN was not in the affected shipped out batch of vehicles. So stupid, 3rd gear would constantly slip and almost cause me accidents. I had to get my tranny rebuilt. cheapest was 1800$ Mine is auto btw. Just call honda corporate and ask them about it and they will check your VIN. I think that is stupid just because the VIN does not show up as an affected model does not mean that it is not hondas fault. those assholes

how much would my car go for now? its at 200k kms lol. I take care of it very well though. the front bumper has rock chips because dealership lied and told me no accidents. The reports didnt even show the accident because it was under 5000$ damage. I want to get a 07 6spd v6 or switch to TL-s

my old 6-6 had 3rd gear grind when I ripped it hard, otherwise was ok.

You could try GM Synchomesh if you haven't already - From the forums it seems thats most popular.
