Need help with getting into my car! Long story short, my 12V battery drained out on my Mazda Tribute. To make matters worse, the key lock is broken and Mazda made a dick move to put only one key lock on the driver's side door... Is there anyway I can get into the car to unlatch the hood so I can access the battery? I can only think of two things: break into the car using a clothes hanger, which I don't know how... or get underneath the car and tap into the 12 V line with another car battery/power supply.. what's the easiest way?!? |
no way, get the door opened tats all |
how? is there someone I should call? |

Full framed door? Good luck. If you're mechanically inclined, I'd say: - see if you can access the batt. terminal on the starter solenoid or alternator or - see if you can access the hood release cable from outside the vehicle Short of that, call a tow truck or BCAA if you have a membership |

What about getting into the car through the rear liftgate? What year Tribute is it? |
edit |
it's a 2008 Mazda Tribute I haven't tried looking at the rear trunk to see if there's a key lock yet! |

there has to be a keylock in the lift gate. I have a older tribute 2001. Posted via RS Mobile |
Is it me, or is there no key hole on the liftgate? http://pictures.dealer.com/m/midwaym...a07593c1ex.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/3k73N53...2e29101b3d.jpg |
Climb underneath and hook jumper cables up at the main lead on the starter motor if its accessible. |
Suggested the same thing, Phil, and by looking at engine diagrams, it might be possible but... Quote:

^ how is he gonna park in surrey if he can't open the door? lol :derp: |
Yea, there is no key slot in the rear lift gate for some stupid reason... Maybe I'll have to resort to calling BCAA afterall.. |
just call a tow company and sacrifice $50. |
