Damper/shock Suggestions So I picked up a new set of Tanabe Springs (DF210) relatively cheap for my 1990 civic DX HB. Spec's: - 5.3 F, 2.7 R kg/mm -> 300 F, 150 R lbs/in (seems high in the front but w/e) - ~15% stiffer than OEM - 1.6 inch drop all around (i have 3 inches of 4x4 clearance as of today :fullofwin:) Plans for the Car: - comfortable DD - slim/no chance of autoX - upgrade to ground control coil sleeves (350 F, 250 R)(lbs/in) in a year or two - $800 suspension budget This is what I've come up with so far: LOW END (<$200): EG/DC OEM shocks - since those cars are heavier, they would be valved more stiff than EF stockers, plus I think mine are on their way out from being 22 years of service Reference picture and info: http://ef-honda.com/ben/front_shocks.jpg EF Hybrid Suspension MID RANGE (~$300): Tokico HP (Blue), Skunk2 - I believe they should be more than adequate for a 15% bump in spring stiffness, but unsure about how well these guys would play with the Ground Control Coils HIGH END ($500+): KONI Yellow - Adjustable, good for up to 500 lbs spring rates, rebuildable (if the autoX bug bites) End of the day: I want something that would be well matched and not overly damped to the point where my spine is being compressed. Thanks, any new suggestions would be awesome as well. |
Do it right. Get Koni yellows. |

Lifetime warranty and adjustable dampening. You'll have a blast with them for sure! Might as well get it right the first time and not cheap out. |
+2 on the Koni Yellows Especially if you're going to use GC's in the future. |

figure out what u really wanna do with that car first. in my opinion, there is no point of spending too much $$ on just to have the car lowered with comfort. if ur planning on autoxing or tracking the car, i recommend to run autox or track and see what ur car is doing to see what kind of shocks and springs u need before buyn a set. |
