Hit and Run Motorcycle Accident

Hi everyone,

I was the victim of a hit-and-run motorcycle accident earlier this week.

I was told by my friends and by someone on Craigslist to post here, as you seem to have a community thing happening here...

If you could share this on your Facebook, hopefully we can find the person.
Hit and Run Motorcycle accident!!

:okay:

Thanks everyone!
Amanda

your friend's been nice enough to inform us of the accident
http://www.revscene.net/forums/67814...y-linwood.html

hope you get a speedy recovery

daytona675 12-20-2012 02:02 PM

Unfortunately I am of no help to you. I saw the aftermath after I passed by.

Good luck on this case, and I hope for a speedy recovery for you. As I am still recovering from my spill. btw, I went to the same hospital to have my shoulder put back into place:badpokerface:

Its pretty dangerous to ride in this dark gloomy weather. Especially the cold, not great for the tires. They never get warm to give you that extra traction you need.

I saw some guy on Oak st yesterday about 4pm in the snow riding northbound. :ahwow:

Lomac 12-20-2012 02:20 PM

Someone on CL told you to come here? Nice! :lol

I was home all day so I'm of no use to you, but good luck on your recovery! Riding this time of year can be quite tricky.

Am I the only one who is surprised that this thread is over 3 hours old and no one has asked Amanda for pics yet? Must be the Christmas Spirit!!

(sorry to hear about the accident btw)

Pics and asl

Raid3n 12-21-2012 07:01 AM

i live in the area, is there any more description you can give? make/model? did you make contact with their vehicle? is there dmg i can look for?

i'm a rider too, so this becomes a "family" thing haha

Vale46Rossi 12-21-2012 07:20 AM

Sorry, but to ICBC it seems like the guy did no wrong.

He maybe an asshole for not stopping and not caring but he did not hit you.

When he did not impact you it's not an accident. It will turn in to a single vehicle accident and ICBC will target you.

My friend has dealt with ICBC in a similar situation in a car where he tried to dodge another car running a red (with evidence) and ended up hitting a pole instead.

It may sound stupid but it would be easier to claim anything with ICBC if you actually got hit.

As a fellow rider I completely understand that you were trying to protect your life and hope that someone at ICBC can understand and your evidence would be good enough to claim a hit and run with only deductible but it would be an uphill battle and it will be hard.

I really hope you have a speedy recovery and good luck with everything.

ICBC sucks :(

Raid3n 12-21-2012 10:21 AM

i am not sure, but i think you can still be found at fault if you cause an accident even if you don't touch the person.. particularly with a good amount of strong witnesses.

either way it will be an uphill battle

yup, that's what I mean even then ICBC will blame you and make you pay minimum deductible. It's so hard to proof with just hearsay evidence. If you have video proof with everything including license plate and persons face its still extremely hard.

ICBC is out to protect themself not you.

Y2K_o__o 12-21-2012 07:39 PM

=\ i drove by boundary near the same time from the opposite direction, saw your bike end up on the grass with a few popo...

sucks to hear that ! hope the asshole get busted really soon

For sure, a douche who cuts ppl off left and right should be held liable for causing accidents behind him.

ninjette 12-22-2012 12:09 AM

Thanks, guys.

My bike was a Ninja 250 special edition (bright green). I am not sure what the car was since he booked it.

Here's to having hope that the holidays will be nice for my family.

I can't bend my knees. Usually this wouldn't be a huge deal, but I am planning to propose to my girlfriend next week, and I need my knees!

I have news for you, and it may be shocking.

Same-sex marriage is legal in British Columbia, it has been for nine years.

I know, shocking, but what comes next is even more unbelievable.

Same-sex couples are a normal component of society, they have for more than two millennia.

Take a moment, process this information.

...

...

Do you fully comprehend?

Great.

In the future, you won't need to be so shocked.

If prior to reading this post, you were, in fact, aware of same-sex couples existence and entitlement to marry, I'd suggest you address your apparent maturity issues.

Thank you Sir.

I go both ways. :nyan: yay for being Canadian!

Story doesn't make sense

If you were travelling southbound on Boundary why does your craigslist picture show your bike fallen on 18th and Boundary.

This googlemap image is equivalent to your fallen bike picture on craigslist. So which street exactly did this person turn out from? If you passed Linwood heading south on Boundary why does the picture show 18th and Boundary. Did it slide down the hill?

So you said they turned from a T-intersection, which would be Canada Way/Schou St. The picture in craigslist shows the bike fallen on 18th St, which means your bike slid for well over 50m going up a hill are you sure your speed was only 50kph?
So u slid 93 meters down the hill?

Hi!

Please read my response on the ninjette forum.
I had planned to call ICBC after the holidays to correct this mistake, and I've already called my lawyer for it.

Any other loopholes? Let me know.

I'm no physics major, but perhaps I did slide there. Who knows, or cares. I'll deal with the little tidbits. I was just looking for people to help me post this on their facebook, you know, kind of in the spirit of the holidays and such.

Regardless, it doesn't take away from the fact that walking/hobbling is a pain and showers are... well. You know that showers and open wounds don't mix.

Not that you guys should feel sorry for me or anything - I mean we haven't even met yet. But I like to think that there are more good people out there than bad, even in internetland.

Cheers,
Amanda

ICBC sucks :(

I was involved in a similar accident, some retard ran a stop sign and I ended up low siding my bike to avoid t-boning the van. No contact was made but because the van did something illegal to cause me to crash my bike, ICBC blamed the other driver 100%.
