VPN question

Hello all..not sure if this should be in this forum of the travel forum but I'll be travelling to China for a month and was wondering if we have any members in china using VPN. Last couple of days there was a crackdown on vpn's with outages. Last time i was in china i used vpn express and hotspotshield and it worked fine but that was in April. Who knows if they work now.

Just checking to see if any other fellow rs'ers in china have any good vpns to recommend

I travel often to China for business.

I use Astrill and until 11/23, it was working 100%.

Speed is usually good if your connection in China is decent

Sorry to bump old thread, but was Astrill fast enough to stream youtube?

As I said, it depends heavily on the isp you use in China. As you'd be making a direct connection oversea (to US, HK, TW... depends on the server you pick) and if the ISP is shitty, you might not get very good speed during peak hour.

But for Astrill itself, their connections are very fast. On my friend's office in Shanghai (the company had a 500/500mbps connection to their ISP) I was able to reach 40mbps on speedtest.

And if you are signing up, PM me, I have a 25% coupon somewhere. :)

One thing I noticed is that the overall speed thru VPN is actually faster than without in China.
