| Best printer for basic black printing?
Been out of the loop on printers. The whole inkjets vs laser jets.
I hated that when u buy a inkjet, the cartridges are more than the printer.
So been needing to print occasional stuff like online receipts etc...
Is there a decent non colour ( color can be had but not required )
Printer that has a low cost of ownership ? Posted via RS Mobile |

The refills are cheaper on the HP, buy on eBay for $15-20 a toner cartridge.
HP P1606DN is a great duplex laser. Very fast and reliable.

The Samsung ML-1665, or whatever is the current model, is a great little printer. I bought one for my parents, and they have no issues.
Samsung OEM toner is $70 or so. I bought the toner from etoner.ca for $40, and it works well.

Really, any laser printer is fine if you're a normal user. If you're churning out pages like crazy (hundreds a week), you'll obviously want something beefier with a larger toner cartridge.

Check out Brother printers. They are great printers for the price, and toner/drum is really cheap (123inkcartridges.ca).

I scooped up an HP all in one during boxing week for 30 bucks at futureshop. They might still be on sale, worth checking out. I had old HP that I used to refill ink for 10 bucks down the street from my house so this was a steal for me.

Cheap printer and Ink doesn't always equate a lot of yield. The toner maybe cheap but the yield might be low. In the end the toner to yeild ratio might cost more than a more expensive toner.

Funny store I was at Future shop I think on Dec 27. There was this ink jet printer on sales for 29.99 and some sales person was telling this customer to buy it coz is really cheap. I just laugh and ask the sales person how much are the ink cartiage or the re-fill cost? He didn't like that too much lol. So I SHOW the guy how much the ink cost, and he just left the store.

+1 on the ML series if you need a basic one. I have seen it for 40$ and 20$ when on sale locally. Toner for it will cost as much as the printer though.
