3 weeks paid, sick days are unpaid (only called in sick once). Working for for a dealership/shop, been with them for over a year now. Started off as full time then part time once I started school.

Full time in an automotive dealership. 40 hours (ten days vacation) and one paid sick day. No real limit on unpaid sick days.. But everyones hates u for calling sick lol

Caps out at 5 weeks after ten years but not sure how many weeks before that

2 Weeks at start of employment
3 Weeks at 2 years
4 Weeks at 7 years

Also we get given the following additional stat holidays:
Easter Monday
The Friday of BC Day long weekend
Christmas Eve (When it falls on a weekday)
Boxing Day

The sick day system is kind of dumb. You get 3 paid sick days per year. If you don't take any sick days in the year, you get two additional vacation days plus a cash bonus the following year. It basically encourages people to come in to work sick and spread it to everyone else.

MR_BIGGS 01-07-2013 06:59 AM

2 weeks paid vacation time
10 paid sick days
10 paid special leave days (sick spouse, kids, or other emergency situations)
Don't get overtime pay (overtime can only be used as vacation time; can't be paid out)

melloman 01-07-2013 07:13 AM

2 weeks paid vacation (rolls over if not used in the year)
3 paid sick days
unlimited "personal" (unpaid) days
can bank hours and take that as time off aswell

Engineering firm.

Also, every 160hr, 1 sick day accumulated.

I work in the grocery business.

Mine is similar to yours
1-4years, 2weeks
5-9years, 3weeks
10-14years, 4weeks
15-19years, 5weeks
20+ years, 6weeks

Gh0stRider 01-07-2013 08:51 AM

3 paid sick days per year

2 week vacay, 1-4 yrs
3 weeks vacay, 5-9 yrs
4 weeks vacay, ?? yrs
and so on

unlimited family/personal days (family emergency)

up to 3 months leave of absence, 6 moths leave of absence for school

bank day, accumulated after working a stat holiday. instead of getting paid out they hold the pay in lieu and can use it for time off.

24/7 business. never close

Nechako87 01-07-2013 08:52 AM

3 weeks + 1 week of banked time.

But I can usually swing 5 weeks.

EDIT: and 3 sick days...which don't get paid out at the end of the year if you don't use them. that sucks.

belaud 01-07-2013 10:22 AM

Wow I thought I had it bad, but now I realize mine's not too bad :lol

Unlimited sick days as long as you're not calling in once a week for being a pussy.

2 weeks off regardless of time worked.

165HR maximum banked hours, will reset at year's end, and will not go towards pay if not used.

InvisibleSoul 01-07-2013 10:26 AM

At my company, depends on the position.

Some get two weeks, some get three weeks.

People who have been at the company more than three years get between Christmas and New Years off as well.

I know someone who works as a BC Hydro engineer and he says they start at six weeks vacation. Dafuk?!

Gumby 01-07-2013 10:34 AM

I'm a university staff member. We get the following "extra" stat holidays:

Easter Monday
Boxing Day
+3 working days between Boxing day and NY (while the university is closed)

As for vacation days, the breakdown is:

Calendar Year 2 through 5: 4 weeks (20 working days)
6 through 8: 5 weeks (25 working days)
9 or more: 6 weeks (30 working days)

We can also carry-over up to 2 weeks.

I'm on my 10th calendar year, so I have just under 8 weeks of vacation this year (including the carry-over from 2012).

platinum300 01-07-2013 10:55 AM

At a major college.

- 6 weeks paid vacation, can carry over
- I work a 4 day week, I get every Friday off
- 16 paid sick days, can carry over
- 1 week paid career development leave
- 4 days paid family illness
- 8 hours paid doctors visit
- get all stat holidays off
- College closes for about 1.5weeks during the Christmas break and we get paid
- If you don't call in sick once within 3 months, you can bank a days pay and you can cash it out. So if you are like me who rarely calls in sick, you can cash out 4 days pay in a year.

Meowjin 01-07-2013 12:57 PM

8% 4 weeks paid, and 1 week unpaid.

But I feel like I'm going to get laid off soon anyways. Or forced to quit haha.

Nocardia 01-07-2013 01:14 PM

Wow, working in a university/college looks pretty lax for vacation!

I work in a hospital
4 weeks to start
1 extra day every year at 6 years
I don't know if I cap sick days at a certain point but I have 42 days...but its for true illness, I think people who call in sick for vacation are immoral.

IfUCare 01-07-2013 01:51 PM

I work in a software company.
4 weeks paid. (use anytime)
1.5-2 weeks paid during christmas. (Depends on workload)
1 week paid retreat (team building)
unlimited paid sick days ( don't abuse it, and everyone is happy)

tool001 01-07-2013 03:29 PM

4 weeks - start
5 weeks - after 5 years (@ now)
6 weeks - after 10 years
+ 15 flex days (like most crown corp )

+ 10 sick days

4 weeks vacay + 8-10 personal days (vacation days essentially) + paid sick leave is not unheard of for both BCH and Fortis in engineering positions. Both firms are trying to fish from the very same (and very small) talent pool

Iceman-19 01-07-2013 05:45 PM

2 weeks a month, every month. :fullofwin:

Alby 01-07-2013 06:23 PM

3 weeks to start with
6 sick days a year (paid)

4 weeks after x amount of years.

of course there is overtime which can be banked or paid out.

work for coast mountain bus.

Everymans 01-07-2013 06:47 PM

2 weeks with a rollover. I have 3-4 days from last year to add to the 2 weeks for this year. two of my coworkers recently saved up 2 years worth of vacation days and took a month and a half off to go to australia.

stewie 01-07-2013 06:59 PM

3 weeks a year - gotta use a minimum of 2, if you only use 2, the extra 1 week is added on for the next year.
10 sick days - whats not used by the end of the year is either paid back to you on your final check, or goes towards your banked overtime for next year

an extra 1 week every X ammount of years
if you work tons of OT...days off are as many as your willing to work to get the banked OT

Hondaracer 01-07-2013 07:10 PM

2 weeks...

:feelsbadman:
