Old android phone with tiny internal storage My dad has an old android 2.3.7 phone with 100mb internal storage. I bought him a 16gb class 10 SD card, but not sure how to store and run all the apps from SD card. Any idea? |
You will need to root it and mod it with an "apps2sd" type script. Be warned that most older Android phones have REALLY slow read/write performance to the SD card, so apps will open and perform really slow. |
Furthermore, a Class10 microSD card might be a bad choice as a Class4 card would be better overall. |
SD class is not a problem, storage > speed It is modded with cyanogenmod, I don't see there is an option in there. |
I'm not talking about the speed being the problem but more as the hardware recognizing the sd card and writing reliably to it consistently. Anyways the app2sd app Skinnypupp suggested is only compatible with older versions of Android prior to ice cream sandwich. You could enable app to sd via the developer adb however. I use App 2 SD Free on my Nexus One (2.3.7) running CyanogenMod 7.2, but it only moves apps that support app2sd. |

trying the class4 4gb for now. found out Cyanogenmod 7.2 has built in app2SD function, but it doesn't seem to work too well. |
It's not worth it. I tried it on my wife's phone, and it slowed down the apps so much it is practically useless. I would suggest installing a lighter stock style rom, or uninstalling as many apps that reside on internal storage as possible. That's what we had to do. |
