No, I meant the attackers were a group of newbie initiates into some gang, and the victim was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

From my point of view, it makes sense seeing as there were more than several attackers with random weapons, and the victim was a good guy.

^ that does make a bit of sense. Or it could just be a highschool thing where there's a fight and it escalates. When there's a fight like that or even jumping someone, everyone's under the impression of bats and such to hurt the victim but everyone may not be aware that one has a knife or sword and actually pull it out and use it. The article said that 3 or 4 of them were arrested at a hospital where they took a friend in, i'm sure if the actual intent was to kill the kid then not all of them would have taken a friend to the hospital.

People are quick to pull out the gang thing now but reality is that not every kid or person in that age group is in a gang. Yah some of them may think it's cool and want to think they are in one or think they are gangsters but really aren't anything. I don't not all of the facts but sounds like a jumping that got out of control either way, no one deserves to die at the hands of another.

i'm pretty sure he means throw, as in to throw a baseball.

i went out with the guy a few times in hs and seemed like a really nice guy. some of my friends were close to him and its really hard to believe this all happened. A sword was not "thrown" at him (how could this partly sever someones head?) nor do i believe it was gang related. it was just a mix up of being with the wrong crowd of people.

personally i wasnt that close to manraj but rest in peace, and all my condolences to his family.

I say it was more of a guy who lost control and swung it like a baseball bat going for a homerun.

Sucks for him if he was as nice as people say. But, it just goes to show you just how much you need to try to not put yourself in that position. That could have happen to the any one of them.
