Short getaways 4 days total Thinking of going to a short getaway with the gf. going to be around 4 day (3 ngiths 4 days total). Will be around May to July. Thinking of either going to Whislter or Harrison Hotspring. Both places is pretty close (2 hours drive at most). Both places have their goods and bads. W I know whistler have a lot of activiaties to do and the drive is pretty becatiful as well. I been there with family during summer so I have a pretty idea what's out there. Harrison Hotspring seems to be more romantic but I really have no idea what there is to do expect the escort there and the hot spring. We are ok with simple outdoor activites such as hiking and water sports but isn't into too much outdoor activites as this is a getaway for us to relax. Any other suggestions from fellow RS. We don't really feel like going too far (no flights unless is a real deal or dirve beyond 4hours). |
Ever thought of doing a weekend in Seattle perhaps? Check out this site > 2 Days in Seattle - Food | Wine | Arts | Music |
I love the Harrison Resort...its close enough that its not a pain to get to and far enough that it feels like you are getting away. The resort itself is updated and modern....the hot spring pools are really nice and the spa is great. May-July the weather is nice and warm so you can go for walks, swim in the lake, rent canoes, wander the village, or you could even go out to the Bridal Falls area (only about 10-15 mins away), Minter Gardens, and Harrison Mills Historic Farm..... I just book there for the last weekend in March....they have some good deals right now. |
Thanks! just wondering how much did you pay for your weekend in Harrison Resort Dino? |
Gf and I go to Harrison on a regular but honestly there is not too much to do in the winter. In the summer tho, there is all kinds of water sports, jet skies ect so it's pretty dope. Prices for a good room for 3 nights including breakfast range between 400-600 so it's too too bad. This is at the Harrison Resort :) Posted via RS Mobile |
We booked the "Getaway" Package which includes: -2 nights in the East Tower -Buffet breakfast for 2 both mornings (its SO GOOD!) -Dinner for 2 at the Copper Room (3-courses....pretty good selection) With tax, etc: $540.00 There are a variety of different packages....I have also previously done the "Romance Package" which includes a couple massage, sparkling wine and chocolate dipped strawberries. It is a few hundred more but honestly....not really worth it. The spa is nice, but not spectacular. I found it better to just go to the spa and book my own shit instead of doing the couples massage....plus, most dudes are not into the massage. |
Also, don't be duped by any of the other hotels or their prices in comparison to the actual Harrison Resort. Yes, they are cheaper...but you get what you pay for. They aren't that great and do not have the amenities. If you are looking at staying for 3-4 nights....maybe consider staying in the Harrison Resort cabins...They are pretty nice, more private, and have kitchens. There are not A LOT of food options in the village so having a kitchen for some meals may be nice. If you don't like the cabins, make sure you book either the East or West Tower (although I prefer the East). |
Not to thread jack but are there any other places to go other than harrison or whistler in bc? |
well, duh. But if you don't want to fly or take a ferry, the choices can be limited. If you want to take a ferry, I would recommend Poet's Cover Resort on Pender Island, or Galiano Resort....or RockWater Resort. The nice thing about Galiano is it is only a 50min ferry ride. Pender is a little bit more because you need to make several stops. Total trip is about 2.5 hours, but it is a beautiful island. To be honest, I don`t really enjoy going to Whistler unless it is for skiing\snowboarding. It can get pretty expensive to eat out all the time and in all reality, unless you are there for outdoor sports, its just a big shopping mall. And, walking through the village in the snow and rain isn't all that fun. Booking a local resort that has "packaged" deals is always easier. |
Thanks I will most likely go to Harrison just need to find a good deal. |
