this is stupid, though, as it looks at income - where you earn that money is way more important. earning $100K in BC isn't the same as earning $100K in just about any US city, bar New York...

great point. I would LOVE to earn $100kUSD in thailand or southeast asia somewhere

Harmless fun but meaningless. All of us are extremely lucky to be born into an industrialized nation as we are most likely already members of the 1% of the world (isn't that so ironic for the occupy movement?). I've taken a course on social inequality on Canada and those that made the distinction between wealth and income are judicious to do so. I could make 100k/yr but how much of that will get taxed and how many people can properly save? I'd rather own 2 million in assets and make $50k/yr.

Only takes $34,000 to be in the top 1% according to this article.

Top 4% in the world yet living in Vancouver, I know I'm considered in the poor house. My annual income can barely afford to pay housing in the suburbs let alone in the main city.

Doesn't matter to me. As long as I can afford gas to get to Cypress and ride the night away, I feel on top of the world. That's all that matters.

Edit

Prolowtone 02-09-2013 02:53 AM

last job: 616,801,630 TOP 10.28%
Before that: 49,583,827 TOP 0.82% :(

Somehow i think this program is flawed

The site should say "Not rich enough for Vancouver"

If you made 600k a year you wouldn't be driving a civic. :P

Anything over 100K is in the top 0.72 per cent.

highfive 02-09-2013 10:05 AM

I tried to punch in like 9 billion 9999999999 etc. and it won't even let me become #1. It kinda stops at #107965 position? Like they reserved the other higher position for bill gates to go on. lol
