Of course! All they need to do is get circumcised :derp:

Circumcision is a Jew thing. The Catholics actually denounce it

The rest of the world doesn't quite look down on black people the way north americans do (while jumping up and down saying we arent racist). There are several africans in high world standings around the world.

The previous 2 term Secretary-General of the United Nations was a black man from Ghana.

I was referring to the people who say that circumcision prevents AIDS

source

Since it's a bullshit myth that still gets propagated, there has to be some driving force behind it (conspiracy!). I didn't mean to infer that it was the pope who was doing this.

The Pope has huge influence. Back in the 60s when the USA was electing their first Catholic president, JFK, there was a genuine concern that the Vatican would be advising the PotUS on important matters. They actually had to release a statement saying this would not be true.

Theres an old school belief that circumcision prevents AIDS.

There is a lot of inaccurate cultural beliefs about AIDS in Africa. The President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, actually believed he could prevent himself from catching HIV after having a shower just following having sex with an HIV-positive woman.

I think thats what Skinny was referencing. It used to be a popular belief in North America that you could catch more bacterial infections if you were uncircumcised but those of us who shower regularly aren't at risk of that.

Circumcision is no longer relevant unless its for cultural/religious reasons, and for that I know I'm lucky I was baptized Catholic.

The Vatican Library holds information that has the ability to re-write history, control over it is an enormous amount of power alone.

Yup. An African pope probably wouldn't be that big of a deal (though how many black cardinals are there?). A female pope, however... that would certainly stir shit up. :lol

Hmmm, I wonder if his step down has anything to do with the allegations laid out in the recently released HBO documentary (released a few days ago) "Mea Maxima Culpa". The doc raises some major allegations about Pope Benedict, seeing as he was the main Inquisitor for the Catholic church for about 25 years, and in fact enacted rules within the church that any child molestation allegations would be reported to his desk and only his desk.

The man covered up a shitload of molestations, he's a piece of shit, and I guarantee more will come out about this as his reasoning for stepping down.

That sounds way more likely.

Really? Because I think the fact that he is 85, has a pacemaker, and can barely walk as his health fails seems like the most likely reason. There have been allegations about child molestation for 25 years, I can't see that he would start caring now...

Mark

mikemhg 02-12-2013 02:51 PM

Of course there were allegations, but Benedict's involvement in the cover-up is just recently all coming out. Seems suspect to me, considering previous Popes pretty much stayed in power until death.

Yes I know Pope Benedict has stated previously that he would step down if he was in poor health.

I watch this doc, shocking stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason why he stepped down.

For the most part, religion is the number one cause for hate in this world.

I'll just leave this here, further to my point earlier:

Pope will have security, immunity by remaining in the Vatican | Reuters

StylinRed 02-19-2013 01:04 AM

that's interesting i thought he was going to live in seclusion only because it wouldn't look right for there to be 2 popes around and that he'd get bombarded by press etc for a multitude of reasons

protection from prosecution is an interesting one although i doubt that he'd get subpoenaed ever anyhow

noventa 02-20-2013 11:03 PM
