Any GPS Tracker Android App My girlfriend and her sister and couple of their girl friends are going to LA. I was wondering if there is any free Android GPS App that she can download so that I can tracker her what she is. As you guys probably knew already, a 21 year old Vancouver girl went missing in LA. Anyhow most of the application that I download were required either mobile data or wifi to pin point the location. My friend won't have mobile data, and wifi are pretty hard to find especially at night time. So I was just wondering if there is a gps tracking android application that requires just turning on GPS without data nor wifi, and I would know her where about thanks |
My question to you is this: what good is a tracking application without data? It will be stored on her phone, and the only way is for her to send the signal out from her phone using data or wifi. Otherwise the data will only be available to her, and you cannot retrieve it. I would suggest something else, such as the SPOT GPS Messenger which can send a distress signal along with her location. If you are THAT worried about her, it is not that big of an investment. SPOT SATELLITE MESSENGER :: HOME PAGE |
Get a dataplan for her while she's in LA. Your GPS won't do anything without data like roastpuff says. $40 unlimited: SIMPLE Mobile | No Contract Unlimited Wireless Plans Absolute Data Protect https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...5jb25zdW1lciJd Ultimately Spot is probably the best bet since it has 911 options. |
cerberus app and a local data sim? |
She should've gotten a Roam Mobility sim card, unlimited talk/text back to canada + 100mb/day for $4 a day while in the states. That way, she could text you or call you when she runs out of money to spend. |
Get her to check in using google maps whenever she has wifi. I believe there is an option in the maps app called latitude that lets her check in automatically. Google maps is always running in the background so it shouldnt eat more resources or battery. Official Google Blog: Check in with Google Latitude |
1. Get a US Data plan from Roam Mobility (or T-mobile when she's there) 2. Download Lookout Antivirus and Security from Google Play 3. Go to Lookout.com, you can track where the device is, make backup of her contact and message history. She MUST have a data plan in order for her to be pinpointed. No exception to this rule. |
Anyone using the Cerberus App? I just downloaded to try it out.. some functions doesnt seem to be working... Taking pictures doesn seem to work... at least no pictures are sent to my gmail account.. GPS was pretty bang on spot... Reboot, display msg works and a few others... |
