5 large cups a week for a year is $462.80
With the card, the cost would be $312.00
You save 462.80-312.00 = $150.80
Thats is a saving of 150.80/462.80 = 32.58% per annum

Not really racist! 02-28-2013 08:02 PM

i guess if you wanna calculate it that way then sure, but really that isn't realistic..
5 cups week/year is 260/year, meaning you need 260 of those coffee cards, meaning in total u need to obtain 1300 (1560-260) cups... lol
and IIRC, to obtain 1300 cups you'll need to buy ~3 cases of 16oz medium cups, ~3.75 cases 20oz large cups.

i suggest you just buy the cups then, cause you're wasting coffee, other peoples' time (they'll have to brew and brew and run out cause of people who do this, thus other people have to wait longer and you'll piss everyone off)

hopefully you have no shame either, and keep in mind the free coffee promotion happens average 3 times a year for one weeks time

but at the end of the day, IMO, whoever buys one or more coffees a day should re-evaluate their priorities.. because we all know its much cheaper to just brew your own (which is do-able for most jobs) and then you wouldn't need to be thinking about these "loopholes" or calculating how much money u save doing this...

those buy 6 get one free do have no expiry and there is no set date for it to end though
i have like a stack of 50 at home.. lol

Or you can buy your own coffee maker at XS Cargo for $20, and spend about $2/week on beans and filters, and at the end of the year, it's cost you a whopping $122 to have all the coffee you can handle, every day, seven days a week. Make it even more cost-effective with a $10 thermal travel mug so you can your cuppa joe when you get up, and take another mug with you to work.

Wake up: Tassimo coffee at home
Work break: Tim Horton's, Starbucks, or office's Keurig... but the Keurig coffee we have is too watery, so usually the former 2.

I tried doing the Thermos thing for a while, but it's just not the same. I already know exactly how prissy it sounds, but I enjoy the walk over to Tim's or Starbucks from the office, and drinking fresh from the paper cups. Just something about it. I can go as far as bringing a Thermos of tea.

I know, I'm a princess.

Last year, a friend of mine won a coffee. That cup won another coffee. Guess what? That cup won another one. That's right... 3 free coffees from one cup. And here I am with 2/60 chances.

I agree. I have a tassimo at home and one in the office. I only use my tassimo on my days off..and rest of the week buy coffee at Starbucks. Something about the culture of buying coffee that hooks you.
