Sports and Fitness Nutritionist?

I'm really having a hard time finding a nutritionist that specializes in sports nutrition. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.

Basically I'm looking for a person to formulate me a meal plan. I'm tall and have a high metabolism so I'm looking to put on weight and keep it on and turn it to muscle.

I need someone to count my calories, tell me what portions to eat and when to eat them, the whole nine yards.

Anyone know of anyone that fits the bill?

First, I want to say that this is something you can absolutely do on your own without having to hire someone. There is so much information online, you just have to put in a bit of time and do some reading. That being said, if you don't feel it's worth your time and you have the extra money, you can try looking online if you cannot find someone local. I'm sure you can find a lot of people offering nutrition counselling, meal planning over skype.

Maybe someone like these guys:

+1 to doing it yourself. Just create a profile on myfitnesspal.com and track your food intake. You can adjust it too.

it is easier than you think. myfitnesspal.com , put in everything you eat and just hit the numbers. just dont expect instant results, give it a few months atleast

I was in the same boat as you, however, going the opposite direction a year ago.

I was looking to LOSE weight and thought about seeking advice from a nutrition specialist and trainer however, realized there are many resources available on the Internet to help meet your goals.

Put in the time and effort to read up on various links/resources and come to your own conclusions. The only major difference in doing it yourself as opposed to having a nutrition specialist is that they monitor/track your progress and do the planning for you. There isn't much of a benefit in doing that and besides, what fun is there when somebody else is doing the work FOR you? :)

Any way, my own research helped and to date, I've lost 40lbs through proper nutrition/meals and regular exercise. I started off calorie counting but that really sucked. Eventually, I just figured out what I could and couldn't heat, how much of it I could eat, and when. In the end, it has so far worked for me. The guys here in the gym/lifting threads are probably a good resource to start here on RS for some inspiration and then maybe go off on your own.
