	        | Should I buy a high milage, recovery status s2000?

Hey guys, im stuck on what to do at the moment..
Iv been looking around for a s2k around the 10,000$ range
and came across a 03 with 160,xxxkm
it is a US theft recovery, interior was stripped, rear bumper n front bumper replaced, it was then fixed and repainted.
There are some minor wear and tear issues with interior trim, a small rip on the convertible top.
It has some mods to it, but the owner seems very knowledgable and has pictures and record of its past..
Hes willing to take 9500$..
Iv never owned anything like this before so I need some input..
should I pass on this deal or take it?

This one? FS: 2003 S2000 Monte Carlo Blue Paint Job price reduced!!
You know about the body and exterior issues but you should check for mechanical problems.
Definitely get a compression test done, this is VERY IMPORTANT. Off the top of my head you might also want to check for clutch fluid leaks, a sign that your clutch master cylinder might need to be replaced.

If there's nothing mechanically wrong with it and you're ok with its status and imperfections then go for it. The car is very reliable if well taken care of.
Try to get him down to $9,000.

I have 215,000kms on mine, and it still ran fine.
Have you ran a carfax/carproof to confirm the info?
Does the roof leak?
Does it burn oil?
I'd say carproof/carfax, compression/leakdown tests at the minimum.
I've been shopping for an s2000 for a few months, that cars been around for a while, its gotta make you wonder..

160 is nothing. Youd best get a structural check done on it before a comp test. Comp tests tell you if the motor is tired sure but they dont tell you if more importantly the car is hammered.

I wouldn't buy this one if I were you, just save a few grand more and you can buy a better condition one.
