Switching from Shaw Cable to Teksavvy Cable

Has anyone switched lately? How has your experience like?

Seeing that Shaw charges $75.00/month for a standalone Broadband 50 package (50mbps down/3mbps up) is making me consider to switch to Teksavvy for their unlimited 25Mbps plan for $45.00. I've heard some horror stories about former Shaw customers making the switch, so I'd like to hear about your experiences.

If anyone can do a speedtest for Teksavvy that would be awesome too. I'd like to see your ping in comparison to Shaw as I am also using VOIP services.

I'm in the same boat. I'll be calling up Shaw on Monday to give my 30day notice. BTW. Teksavvy uses Shaw as their provider.

I made the switch around new years.

I was on shaw's 7.5 download package before that.

Don't forget to migrate your shaw mail over.

I used to use shaw's newsgroups, but did some calculations, and going with a private provider was cheaper over in the long run.

Speeds are as advertised. I'm out of the country right now so I can't do a speed test.

Overall after connection fees, buying a modem, and prepaying for a month in advance, the switch cost 200 dollars.

Unlimited rocks! I don't have to worry about netflix and youtube slowing down, or going over every month. I can share as much as I want, I love it!

No longer with tech savvy but was with them for a couple of years. Everything was great and speeds were as advertised until one day the connection stopped working. It took almost 4 weeks for them to do anything about it and the issue never got resolved. They also wanted to charge for someone to come out when the issue was on their end. Had to switch back.

I'm paying $55/month (cause it's packaged with a TV package) for Broadband 50 with Shaw. I am using less than 200GB per month (on a 400GB cap plan). I already have the Motorola SB5102 DOCSIS 2.0 modem, but they are still gonna charge me $79 for activation as well as another fee for on-site installation (even though I don't need it, they will still charge it), which brings me to about $200 for initial set-up.....is not worth it at all for me. I am basically just saving $10 per month on their $45 Unlimited 25Mbps plan. It will cost me 20 months (to recover the setup cost) for this plan to be worth it.

I'm sticking with Shaw; however, if I only needed standalone Internet, then it would be worth it, cause Shaw charges like $75 for standalone Broadband 50 now. Ripoff.

Im thinking about making the switch too since the caps are too low imo (400gb :crazy2:)
especially with higher bandwidth services coming

but the activation fees etc etc at teksavvy seem unreasonable so i'm put off from going through with it
