Buying USED parts from the US?

Hey Revscene,

Got a question for you. Im looking to purchasing some USED engine parts for myself in the US. Im going to pick them up since its close by. Problem is, this is a private sale. Cash and carry. What would i say when i get to the border coming back into Canada? Cant really say nothing because there's parts in the trunk. What would happen then?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

You need to provide an invoice and you will need to pay duty + HST if it is items that are not made in a NAFTA zone.

how do i provide an invoice? I ask this because Im going to be buying a cylinder head and block for $300 USD. They are used. Im only worried about them not believing the price for the engine parts. Thats my main concern

I used to buy stuff off Bellingham and Seattle CL all the time. Just print out the ad and email convo.

"Draft" a bill of sale with the sellers contact information on it.
Example:
I Bill Smith sold a cylinder head to Peter Pan for $300.00 on February 27,2013.
Contact info and signatures...that's it. Also like mentioned above have the advertisement printed out if there is one.
