Truckers have stricter rules then you nexus folk, they can't simply waltz across the boarder and say they're buying groceries. I work in the floral industry and every now and then the boarder patrol unloads half of our trucks that come up here from miami to look at it. That's about 500-600 boxes HANDBOMBED out of the truck so they can walk around and inspect it. Luckily they cross the Canadian boarder so this doesn't affect them, but if this is how it is going back across then it's going to be a very long and stressful journey if you only have one guy unloading 600 boxes from your truck and you can't help him. I'd just pay a toll if I were a trucker, especially if I get more money for the mile then by the hour.

On the way back to Canada from Bellingham, I crossed at Peace Arch. Normal lanes were faster than Nexus.

AM 730 reported 5 minutes vs 15 minutes, but by the time I go there, it was more like no delay at normal lanes as opposed to a couple of minutes.

There you go........ first hand proof that it does happen, although rare. This was at 5:45 pm.

Good to know, except my kids are in their mid to late twenties.

Weird thing happened to me last week, crossing back into Canada......... first time ever a border guard was speechless. Not a single word was exchanged. Didn't even ask me where I lived or anything............ telepathy?

I handed him my passport, he looked into car, scanned the passport, and gave me the waive. I did say thank-you as I left.

He looked like a miserable old fart.

Crazy lineups today. I was planning on crossing Sumas at my usual time of 6:30 am, but traffic radio reported huge ass lineups. Peace Arch was up to three hour wait by mid day. They said the lineup started at 5:00 am.

I went to work early, visited friends, and crossed at 5 pm, where I went right up to the booth without stopping. From hours of waiting to zero lineup. Wow.

Gas went down, btw, and Edaleen ice cream is still worth the trip, LOL. And, Nooksack Northwood Casino, where all the seniors go, hee hee.......

On my girlfriends birthday trip down to the states the guard said
"Happy birthday" with the most..........:rukidding: face ever..seemed like he was forced to say it. Yes yes, they must maintain a certain level of "seriousness" but CMON MAYNE

Kaolinite 03-29-2013 11:54 PM

PJ 03-30-2013 12:46 AM

Is this Peace Arch you are talking about ?

Were regular people trying to use that lane and cut in ? Or nexus people ?

Woops just realized I made a spelling mistake haha.

Well right line slowed to a stop abruptly cos of a truck..and some cars thought something was wrong and started taking the shoulder to pass..then EVERYONE started to do that...this was well before nexus...more like a km or 2 before it even hits the 80km/h sign..

maybe half of them took the next exit and came back on on the pacific x-ing exit..but it was obvious the shoulder wasn't gonna be as wide for 6km all the way to the border..ppl just didn't care and followed..simply ridiculous

murmur 03-31-2013 03:22 PM

what is the weirdest question that you were asked by the cbsa?

one time an officer asked me:
"what does your cap say?"

Klondike 03-31-2013 08:22 PM

Nexus owner here. I frequent Bellingham and often send shipments to Blane, so I kind of need it.

lilaznviper 03-31-2013 09:46 PM

I couldn't help but chastise one of those fucks trying to cut in front of me. I usually keep my cool, but with so many people pulling this shit, my gf gave me permission to lash out.

Me: What the fuck are you doing, man?
Him: (no response)
Me: Why don't you wait in line like everyone else?
Him: I didn't know that was the Nexus lane.
Me: So you missed the 47 signs you drove by?
Him: (no response)
Me: It's douchebags like you that make a long wait even longer for others. I don't know what makes you think you have a right to cut everyone off. Get a Nexus pass if you don't wanna wait in line, asshole.
Him: Running your mouth like that can get you in trouble, buddy.
Me: Wouldn't have to if you weren't a dick.
Him: I could just beat you right here right now.
Me: You could. But I'd sue you.
Him: (no response, cuts in behind me instead of in front of me.)

Best part was he was in a convertible, so he couldn't just roll up his window, and had to just take everything I said. :lawl:

Border Guard: "Are you smuggling anyone in your trunk?"

Me: "No..."

Border Guard: "Why not?"

:suspicious:

I've also had a five minute conversation about my old GTI with a guard a few years back. Turns out he was a VWVortex member and was curious about what I had done with the suspension.

I usually just get the standard questions though about where I live/work, who owns the car I'm driving and how I can afford it, what my purpose for crossing the border is, etc., etc.

Wonder if it was the same guy I had one time when I was going down with one of my girl friends.

Guard: How do you two know each other?
Me: Friends from school
Guard: Are you guys dating?
Me: No
Guard: Why not?
Me: :suspicious: ...... :lawl:

Well I wouldn't say it was a weird question but went down with my gf last year and the CBSA guy asked us both to say what each others birthdays are. First and only time we've ever been asked that. So everytime it gets close to our turn, we always remind each other what our birthdays are.
