Satin Black Paint
 

I just painted my hood satin black and am wondering if there are any products made especially for it. I understand you can't polish it, are you able to wax it? Couple people have tried lemon pledge, anyone have expierence with it? Any other tips?

You shouldn't wax it because in certain lights it'll show up and look really bad, you could use regular non-automotive cleaners, but regular car wash shampoos like meguairs are fine. But if you want a specific product for matte/satin finishes I know that Chemical Guys makes a product for it called Meticulous Matte Auto Wash, there's also a quick detailer made by them. auto obsessed CG matte wash

We carry the CG Meticulous Matte Auto Wash and Matte Detailer as well. We don't stock any matte specific sealants as they just aren't popular but they are available. I'll see what I can find for you.

You are definitely right about not being able to polish this paint finish. Avoid using any abrasive products on the paint as well.

Also, avoid using glazes,waxes,sealant or any products with silicone since they act as "fillers" to fill in any imperfections on the paint, creating a flat surface to give shine. Defeating the purpose of matt paints and their light absorbing qualities.

Like 911fanatic said, if you want to use a sealant, make sure it's specifically made for matt finishes.

All in all, just be very careful and gentle with the paint. Since any scratches would be much harder/expensive to fix.
