I think Chevron currently sells 92 octane gas? and they have no mention that it contains no ethanol, so I'd assume it's a E10 blend.

Last summer I went around filling up 91 at a bunch of stations in Vancouver proper while checking ethanol content. (I have a flex converter kit for my car so I can read over BT or directly from ECU as it's tapped into the lines.). I actually didn't find any that had ethanol in it. I know the sensor works because I also popped down to Costco in Bellingham and their 91 is 10%.

TLDR, anyone know of a station in Vancouver proper that has 91 or higher with Ethanol in it? Better knock resistance for my Evo X.

I'm trying to get up to "US 93 octane" for a Unitronic tune.
Anyone run Shell 91 with Lucas or NOS octane booster?
They are supposed to be good for 3.5-4.5 octane numbers in a 10 gal tank.

I wouldn’t tune when using octane booster, way too many variables to safely tune to. Octane boosters are better used as safety nets.

I’ve usually run royal purple octane booster. But I mean, without somehow measuring octane numbers it’s all anecdotal

Good point. I’d say if you’re tuning for it, that means you plan to constantly use it. Find the cheapest one you can that ships in bulk from amazon or something.

I’ve heard from many sources that flying J on braid street in Coquitlam bought acrades old e85 pump and setup. In the states a lot of pumps give e30/e50 and most tuners offer OTS e30 setups but YMMV. One e85 pimp in the whole lower mainland doesn’t bode well for travel

Yah I'm not even sure my car's stock fuel system could handle an e85 only tune even if it was readily available.

The best value octane booster that I've found is the Lucas product that's available at all Lordcos for under $10 per tank -- about equivalent to going from 91-"94" at Chevron.

My cobb AP has been showing a lot of knock the past couple weeks. Anyone experiencing the same? I'm thinking the gas is worse than usual.

just to add, those octane boosters bring up by "points", ie. 3 point increase to 94 is 94.3 not 97.
best bang for buck is toluene, xylene or methanol mixture straight in tank with some marvel mystery oil. or meth/water injection for race fuel on demand.

toluene 114
xylene 117
methanol 98
add 100ml of marvel mystery oil to every 4L of booster added

for ex. my 1/4 mile mix was
7L chevron 94
3L xylene 117
100ml oil
=100ish octane
on the street i just ran meth injection

As of last week, there's been reports that Shell is now receiving 93 octane and slowly changing all their stations to carry it.

They're replacing the 89 with 91, and 91 with 93.


The 93 contains ethanol and so far with limited testing, people are claiming it's way better than Chev94 and at least comparable with 92 down in the States.

For anyone tuning their cars, this should be a game changer.

I've seen another dyno test result for a Mustang using Shell 93 and Chevron 94. For that one, below 4k rpm, the Chevron 94 had the more favourable torque curve, but above 4k rpm, the Shell 93 did better.

Suffice to say, at least it seems like we have a viable alternative to Chevron 94 now, even though it is an E10 blend.
