Some hightlights of the CRTC Wireless Code hearings in February

LMAO at the last statement at the video..

Jonathan Daniels:
Remove 3 years contract and its Anti-consumer!

Wade Oosterman:
"Consumers have voted with their wallets that they prefer 3 years contract"

Fuck all these VPs... most of them are from Bell!! lol

i posted the link, when crtc was looking customer feedback. i really wonder how many people actually took the time to send comments to crtc..

people bitch and complain, but only a few take time to drive change.

I don't get why people complaint about contract. Where's the money coming from when you pay $150 for a $600 phone? in fact most wireless telecom offer full price handset without contract agreement.

^^
Thats not completely true... I got screwed over like that.

The monthly prices you see advertised are subject to you signing a contract (whether you get a new phone or not), there are no real month to month plans, and when there are they are really bad.

Well they can do what Mobi and Wind does. Use the tab system. So when people want to cancel they just pay for the remaining of the phone and there isn't any penalty or calcelation fees.

That's what people are mad about the 3year contracts is that when you do cancel they charge huge amounts off your bill.

You got a point there, never thought about that. if thats the case then the telco is stupid for doing that. I would think Telco welcome customer to bring their own phone since its pure profit for them.

Robellus wants to lock everyone in 3 year contracts, regardless of whether you bring your own phone or not. You would think that by bringing your own phone, you would rightfully get a discounted rate, but not in this country.

The way I see it, there will be minimal changes. Rogers, Bell and Telus got their fingers wrapped around the Harper government's balls.

you cant just walk into a robelus store and say you want a plan without contract.. they will only offer the Pre-Paid plans.. which suck...

the contract is going to happen.. its whether you choose to get the phone or not..

Wait.. It seems like Bell is the only affected company on the stand. Are these VPs saying what consumer wants based on research studies or surveys? Public consultations?

I am with Fido for about 13 years and I think they charge more than fair rates and offer reasonable terms. Their sales people can be manipulative though but that goes for all competitors.
