That would mean we would have to invest money which is a novel idea... In a context of people calling for reduced spending.
These kids could have developmental disabilities like fetal alcohol syndrome. Posted via RS Mobile
It's a slipery slope though, you do nothing now and it comes back to bite you later when they spend there whole adult life in jail and commit baby jebus knows how many crimes making victims out of who knows how many inoccent people. I don't even know if intervening at this point would help them but I don't think writing them off hoping they end up in jail long term as adults is the solution either.

i thought the 3 strike was felonies... correct me if i am wrong, but getting a felony isnt a small thing... and you need 3!
When that law came into effect there was a guy in California that got his 3rd strike by grabbing a slice of pizza from some kids. I'm not sure if it was over turned but they sent him away for life for strike 3.

well maybe he shouldnt has stolen pizza if he new he was so close to going over...
One lives in a group home, both suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome.
Whether this is in some form due the the system failing is another discussion
Makes total sense......... they probably come from a certain segment of our society, too. A segment of our society where the government and their own people just give up on everything. Parents probably couldn't resist drinking while pregnant. Since day one those girls were at a disadvantage. If you care enough about your people stop doing this kind of shit. Stop blaming others and start finding solutions. If you can't get off the sauce, at least use contraception. If your life is that miserable, don't pass it on to your children!
Our governement failed us when they shut down facilities. More and more people out on the streets not getting treatment. The money the government saved years ago is going to end up costing us taxpayers a hundred times more.
Those girls will most likely get knocked up and the cycle will start again. Meanwhile innocent people will continue to be victims of their selfish acts.
So many kids out there suffering from FAS, drug abuse, neglect, whathaveyou. And, sending them to foster care is not much better. There is no right answer without drastic changes, but let's start with getting these people the help they need (treatment).

I definitely don't disagree with your argument.
My comment was a quasi-rant against those who think that services should be cut because they want to save a few bucks at tax time. Society does pay the cost eventually. Of course, some would rather stick them in prison and forget about them; in fact, the US has been doing this for decades very quietly.
On the other hand, the suggestions that we should send them to boot camp, or military camps are equally foolish. These girls are likely mentally ill and have developmental issues. Scaring people straight only works when people are rational. Posted via RS Mobile
its times like this that these kids needs to be thrown in jail..
I dont care if they are still under-age.. if you come into contact with the police almost 150 times (combine for both), thats waaaaay too many...
Actually not too opposed to this. BMQ with MS Mamalyga would teach these girls a lesson. So long as they can accept what they're doing, if they don't then they'll fail out in a couple weeks haha.

The difference is one group is there BY CHOICE and wants to do well whereas the other doesn't give a fuck.
how do you come into contact with police 150 times?! holy
Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for those who have fallen through the (large) cracks in the system. And there are a lot of them. You just don't hear about them as the crimes they commit don't always make the news. As well, "contact with police" can range from something as serious as a stabbing to getting a ticket from a Transit cop for fare evasion.

The police have no (direct) control over how our justice system works. They're not the ones that write the criminal code or decide on sentencing. They're the ones that have to arrest these repeat offenders all the time. I'm sure they'd rather have long sentences for offenders or a rehabilitation system that works. Our CORRECTIONAL system doesn't seem to be living up to its name.

It could be they got too much of that. I think their lives were a little more complicated than what we went through as children.
FAS at birth, dealing with parents who didn't give a shit, probably abused physically and emotionally, etc. Probably addicted to drugs, glue sniffing, etc.
I don't think a feather duster would change any of that.
