Media is just grasping at straws now, it isn't simulating a school shooting where students or teachers die, it's just counter strike with a new map.

Over reacting.

a few minutes before steam launched in 2003 the launch app was leaked and i think anyone who has a 4 and maybe 5 or lower steam id had registered using the leaked version. lol, those were the nerd days

BrRsn 03-23-2013 11:37 PM

I too have seen a 3 once. Riveting tale.
5 dig crew checking in :fuckyea:

I always wanted to make a CS map of my school but it took way too long and required way too much knowledge/effort.

CP.AR 03-24-2013 03:59 AM

I actually did this for my highschool when I was in grade 9... though nowhere as detailed as this
nobody complained, and my teacher was somewhat amazed

I didn't really make it to play counter strike though, I just did it because I could lol

tseman 03-24-2013 04:29 AM

some student in texas did this, and got expelled and transferred to a special school for special needs w/ a special terrorism unit :fulloffuck:

Student expelled for high school Counter-Strike map • The Register

here is the map in question.

it's fucked up how people treat these smart students like terrorists. do they have any idea how hard it is to reproduce a real life location and implement it into a computer program? heck people in the comments on youtube are asking for advice, and trying to learn too. if anything poeple should realize that there's some kind of programming talent in these kids, and send them to an IT school or a computer engineering school of some sort, so they can excel even further. not expel them.

Psykopathik 03-24-2013 05:04 AM

its a map of a building. it happens to be a building they goto school in and are familiar with.

at most i would say no CS with this map AT school. beyond that, there's fuck all they can say.

Expulsion? fuck, that's just wrong.

SENSELESS!!???

WTF? Terrorists have planted a bomb in one of 2 places in the building! They must be stopped!

;)

Gridlock 03-24-2013 10:25 AM

I personally think that schools hold a special place in society and should be treated as such. I don't like the idea that in any way we're cementing the idea of school shootings in our collective conscience.

That's just me though.

Matlock 03-24-2013 10:41 AM

The media doesn't do anything except make these things more popular. It's just the same thing as the Surrey t-shirts. All they did was give them free advertising.

Just hearing this makes me want to reinstall cs and play this map even though I've never been to that school.

JSALES 03-24-2013 10:46 AM

I would play for sure if my high school had a map in CS

ae101 03-27-2013 06:53 PM

all this reading makes me wanna play CS again

Xu.Vi 03-27-2013 10:29 PM

just me or is this game not even cs

maxx 03-27-2013 10:49 PM

that's pretty cool. i would play..

heleu 03-28-2013 10:12 AM

Yeah, this has been blown out of proportion.

When I was in high school, we had to make animation videos on Macs with Adobe Flash. I made a drive-by shooting video. My teacher was very impressed. I haven't shot anyone in real life yet...

I'm sure if the technology was available at the time, I would have made a simulation of the high school...

Ulic Qel-Droma 03-28-2013 11:08 AM

i don't know about you guys, but back in the day people made quake maps of their schools and local shit.

people always made maps of stuff they knew... you're making a map... what cooler thing would you make than something you KNEW in real life?

and all your friends knew?

you'd go in and explore the shit and be amazed at all the little details the map maker put in that was exactly like real life.

Verdasco 03-28-2013 11:59 AM

now i need to make a map on metrotown.... LOOOOOOL

Mr.C 03-28-2013 12:39 PM

Yes, media overreaction, what else is new. Map looks decent. I'd totally play a map of my high school. Heck, I even tried to make one, but that was in 2002 and my PC (an my mapping skills) were pretty shitty. Also, we didn't have floor plans. The building was 200 years old, though, so there were many small corridors, blocked off passages, tons of vents, it would have made a fucking awesome 16-32 person map!

and the developer is debating whether or not to release it when he finishes
he said it'll be free for sure though if he does
