local amp repair shops I have a sick Audison amplifier that needs repairing. It has been at Japan electronics for repairs for the past 1.5 months and I am tired of waiting. Does anyone have any suggestions for another shop? It's drawing abnormally high current. thanks! |
Well unfortunately that amp is made in Italy so parts for it are going to be scarce. If Japan has ordered parts they are most likely coming from Europe. If you take it somewhere else then you may have to wait forever again. I would say tough it out as Japan Electronics (although not perfect) are the lesser of evils when it comes to electronics repairs. |
well this is the second time I brought it in. sub channel was completely messed up and they managed to get it to work but I had a lot of hissing noise and the sub would be active even when there was no signal going to it since I brought it back to the shop, they haven't even touched it and when I call to ask for the status. he says he will call me back but never ends up doing it. and when I decided to show up on site, he said he found nothing but when he decided to test it out again, this time when I was there, it did exactly as described and then he says it just started to draw more ccurrent.. When amps have issues like that, I just throw them out. I know that it's a huge loss, but I have spent thousands on trying to repair amps through different companies to make them work properly, but it rarely works out. Get your money back from Japan and buy something else. It will save you time & headaches. |
I remember when I could just repair my own amps... nice, simple designs... *sigh* On another note, I was downtown last week, couldn't believe all the tall buildings... |
Japan electronics is a waste of time IMO. Yes the amp is made in italy but the resistors capacitors toroids transistors and such are not. There is no reason why a good electronics repair guy cant fix it right and in a timely manner. Get it back from Japan. This is who I use. they said it will be done by the end of this week, it not, I am going to just pick it up. thanks for the intro of another dealer. Any idea what their rates are like? Posted via RS Mobile |
this person on cl is selling audison amp that may fit your application new audison rx3 3 channel amp |
thanks. I saw that too. I like the idea of the 5.1 because I don't want to build another amp rack to accommodate multiple amps. Posted via RS Mobile |

I've had similar issues with Japan electronics. Takes them awhile, but eventually they get to it and fix it. I dropped off a Hertz Amp for them to fix which took awhile. Had to keep calling them and pester them to fix it. |
that is exactly the service they provide. I picked up my amp today. They said nothing was wrong with it...argh I found another place called Vancouver amp repair and in the middle of discussion with them. Rate is $45/hr Vintage Amp Repairs and More | Amp Repair Vancouver BC and there is also Ho's electronics and sound hoelectronics.com/wordpress/ Posted via RS Mobile |
