I like this thread

It reminds me of someone I know.. older guy, kind of an asshole.
When something breaks he's too cheap to pay to get it fixed, so he YOUTUBES how to fix it. Need something built? Let's YOUTUBE that too.

Nothing wrong with that, I Youtube plenty of things to DIY fix things. Especially on my car.

dlu 04-02-2013 12:35 PM

^ +1 for youtube school

i do that all the time.. only when i cant figure it out myself or on youtube would i pay for it to get fixed

AzNightmare 04-02-2013 12:42 PM

I YouTube for instructions all the time, but only cause I'm a "handyman".

But people should also know their place and not try to be a hero.
Not everyone is good at DIY stuff.
And it's probably better for those to just hire some professionals before they make things worst.

Ulic Qel-Droma 04-02-2013 01:06 PM

I think most people underestimate how hard it is to build something like that. especially when you don't have the right tools.

melloman 04-02-2013 01:33 PM

When you Youtube how to install a toilet..

It doesn't make it leak proof..
or when you need to patch a hole in a wall.. and your mudding skills are worse then a dogs.

(Just some examples)

GLOW 04-02-2013 01:37 PM

my neighbour made a shed/garage from scratch, pretty damn impressive structure. it has a slanted metal roof, rain gutters, window, and barn style door in case he wanted to back his van in to it...only thing missing was he didn't do any electrical in there for lights or receptacles...or plumbing...but man it was impressive seeing him spend a summer building it himself.

Time lapse part II. It's the 50/50/90 rule.

The paint makes it happen.

skyxx 04-02-2013 02:55 PM

lol while browsing the forum I didn't know reddit had a Vancouver section.

RRxtar 04-02-2013 03:13 PM

Foralark 04-03-2013 01:08 PM

Is it finished? lol

Gumby 04-03-2013 02:06 PM

That's what my LEGO houses look like!

MG1 04-03-2013 06:03 PM

I don't know about you, Gumby, but my Lego™ houses don't have gaps the size of a Ho's snatch and the pieces are lined up straight. LOL.

GLOW 04-03-2013 06:52 PM

wonder how long the shed will last

Lomac 04-03-2013 07:41 PM

Looks like the place is based off of 16th Ave, and I'm pretty sure I know where that barn/silo combo is. Think I may have to go for a drive and check it out in person at some point. :D

ilovebacon 04-03-2013 07:53 PM

the big bad wolf could blow that shit down...

fliptuner 04-03-2013 11:04 PM

This POS is the only reason I'm looking forward to rain this weekend

Gridlock 04-04-2013 07:29 AM

The rain will be funny.

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, because I've only lived in BC for 15 years...so newbie...but we occasionally get wind storms here, right?

Reminds me years ago of this guy in East Van across the alley that built a cinder block garage that was just horrible.

Solid effort. Levels are cheap. In a crunch, you can just sit a glass of water on something and say, "Hey, its kind of level."

GLOW 04-04-2013 08:41 AM

a level building doesn't add 'character'

AW607 04-04-2013 09:32 AM

same guy who probably built this abomination in pyongyang

http://www.esquire.com/cm/esquire/im...g-hotel-lg.jpg

Unoccupied and unfinished since 1992 :fulloffuck:

Hotel of Doom - Ryugyong Hotel - Pyongyang - Esquire

Gridlock 04-04-2013 10:32 AM

^^Well, with a name like 'Hotel of Doom', you can see why people wouldn't be lining up to invest...

noventa 04-04-2013 10:40 AM

^^Well that is only the case for those who can not read.
